    Villa
    Version 1

    Hello all.
Designed as a 2v2 map back in Halo 3, Villa is the first project I deceided to tackle in Halo: Reach. Although the map is still geared towards the 2v2 play it was designed for, some minor necessary geometry changes were made to both improve the design, along with better suiting the map towards Reach gameplay.

Although the map was originally designed with 2v2 gameplay in mind, a 1v1 gametype is in the works (for all of you 1v1 fanatics ;))

Villa features two primary floors, with red (aka grass side) and blue (aka rock side) creating two secondary distinct levels. With the custom spawing in the basement, a necessary push to bottom middle from the team attempting to occupy top is all but nescessary to keep control of the most crucial powerup on the map.

    Weapons on Map:
    • 4 DMR's
    • 2 Needle Rifles
    • 2 Sniper Rifles
    • 1 Grenade Launcher
    • 1 Custom Powerup
    • 4 Frags (2 sets)
    • 2 Stickies (1 set)
    • 2 Health Packs
    Intended Gametypes:
    • Villa Slayer
    • Villa 1v1 (Coming soon after additional testing)
And with that, allow me to introduce Villa:

    Red Snipe Overview:

    Blue Spawn:

    Basement View 2:

Custom Spawn: (60 second / Place at start "No")

I would like to thank everyone who aided in molding this map into what it is, specfically Solo XIII, who provided crucial feedback throughout the testing process, Soloist who hepled with the "rockable rockage" in the basement area of the map, and Sethiroth et. al for for helping test the map. With that said, i genuinely hope everyone enjoys the map, and does not hesitate to voice any feedback that may arise. Enjoy guys.

    Thanks, and gig 'em

Looks interesting I like how you turned the rocks and grass into like mini exhibits, and I'm wondering the same things as Grimsby. Does the map work with other Gametypes besides the custom one?

Thanks, i'm glad you like the look of it ;)

And as of now, the custom gametype is strongly reccomended, seeing as the custom would be useless without the intended effects provided by the gametype.

Thanks for giving it a look.

    deja vu
I think I saw this map on some other forum or something, maybe I just saw it here twice and have became crazy after that weekend in Maine with no internet.

Looks really nice, I can see this map playing out really well. I love how you mixed the natural rocks with the forerunner looking forge world objects, the antennas actually make it look nice, which is hard to do because both objects are alien to one another.

    Thumbs up, man!

I took a run around this last night, and I had a question. I didn't have a chance to try it out myself, but do 'fixed' grenades behave the same way as 'fixed' weapons, in that, they turn into hard, permanent pieces of geometry once dropped?

    @Antares: Thanks man.
Yea, the map's been posted here for around a week, so that's definitely an option. It is also posted in the MLG Reach Forum as well.

@Lightsout: Very good question, i in fact had no idea that problem existed. I can only imagine it happens to nades as well, since they are under the same item menu as weapons, but it is certainly something that I should look into. Thanks for your attention to detail ;)

This map looks fun. I like what you did with the rocks. You need a bigger version!!!

I really like the design of this map; it seems like it will play very nicely. I think you should have it support more gametypes, though. It seems like wasted potential to only be able to play one gametype on such a fun looking map.

I <3 this map. The aesthetics are sexy, and I love the weapon layout. We need to run some 1v1's on this sometime, I'm curious to see how it plays.

I LOVE this map. It's easily one of the best 2v2 maps in Reach so far, if not the best 2v2 map (Between this and sequence imo).

    @Lightsout

I don't think grenades have the same problem. You can't really "drop" grenades.

@Hokets: Thanks for the praise. There's plans to soon set the map up with not only a specific 1v1 gametype, but also for 2v2 ball as well.

@nexn: Thanks broski ;) We'll have to play this and sequence sometime reeeaalll soon.

@Lightsout & neil: I'll have to do some definitive testing when i get on today. I've been sort of spastic with what i've been doing on xbox lately, and haven't gotten around to trying it out.
