Gold Rush Backstory A large gold deposit has been discovered on an ancient Forerunner world. Because it is shiny and golden, spartans now fight to the death for control of this obsolete mineral. Hello, and welcome to my very first Halo: Reach map, Gold Rush. Since I first heard about Reach, I have wanted to make a map in it. I knew that Forge would be ten times better, and much easier to manipulate, allowing an amateur forger like myself to create awesome maps. Beginnings The idea first came to me when I was lounging around my house. I pulled out a piece of scratch paper and sketched out a crude draft, which really only gave the general flavor of the map. I knew I wanted a symmetrical map that had a fight-tastic center area. A couple minutes later, I had launched up forge and was whizzing on over to the cliff. Construction Construction and testing of this map only took around 4 days, but I will definitely be editing and changing based on reviews and ideas, so expect a version 2. The map is almost perfectly symmetrical-the only changes are the types of cover I used on both sides, but even those are in the same general areas on each side. Later on in construction, I realized that I needed to make this map unique. It was just too bland for my taste, so I stuck a huge rock in the middle to block sight lines and create an interesting centerpiece. I eventually swapped out the solid rock for the arch, and added smaller rocks to allow both sides to jump to the top of it. Still not satisfied, I flipped through the menus until I discovered lights. I decided to stick a yellow light in the rock, giving it a gold tint, which is where the name of the map comes from. The final part of construction was the sign on the rock face. It started out as simple letters on the rock, then evolved into the colorful and perfectly even stunt-ramp fueled sign that you see now (don't worry, it's a soft kill zone so people can't camp there). Gametypes Gold Rush supports only team games of Red vs. Blue. Recommended gametypes are CTF, Neutral CTF (The flag spawns on the middle rock for some extra scrambling fun), Stockpile, Team Slayer, and Assault. is it me or are all the lazy maps coming out the quarry area? i mean cliffhanger now this!if i wanted a blank, open area i would have chosen to play on regular forge world
I don't think it's lazy. I like the use of rocks in this, especially the middle. But, I do think you need to make some additions. The floor is way too open with hardly any cover. Have you gotten this tested?
This map has been tested, but it could stand for a little more. I'll keep working on it and playing on it. But so far, the cover on the ground has not been a problem. The middle area on the bottom is covered by the rocks and block sight lines across the map.
I read the gold rush story and it is a quite interesting . When i star reading it i am curious what happen in the end . i think it is a great and nice one according to me .
