Invasion Slayer, I love that gametype and I'm really sad that Bungie put it in the Invasion playlist. You may say, "well duh! its called invasion slayer" But really 85% of the people who are in there are there to play just Invasion (objective game) and not Invasion Slayer (Slayer game). I believe that Invasion slayer should be moved to the Big Team Battle playlist with a few modifications: Instead of Spartans v. Elites do either all spartans or use preferred class (when unlocking a supply drop the class who was in the territory the longest is the type of drop that occurs, if two different types then whoever was in there longer) Take away the squad thing, that would change BTB just a little too much.
Maybe rename the playlist to "Spartans vs. Elites" to make it more accurate? I dunno, I don't think it's out of place where it is. And actually, my games tend to be either 50/50 Invasion/Invasion Slayer or a little more on the Invasion Slayer side.
Yeah, I too like Invasion Slayer a lot. I hate it on the standard Invasion maps, imo neither Spire nor Boneyard play it even close to well, but I think it's great on Paradiso and is the single gametype which Hemorrhage actually plays well, very well at that. But I wouldn't really want to see it out of the regular Invasion playlist. I'd be really sad to see the buddy system disappear from it as you suggested, since it's a massive part of how the spawning works, which in turn is a big factor in why I like the gametype so much. This is especially true on Hemorrhage, and is why I think Invasion Slayer is the single redeeming gametype for this map which I otherwise don't enjoy much at all. The dynamic spawning introduced by the buddy system, along with the forced flow introduced by the drop zones, turns what is otherwise a dull standoff in to something really fun. If it wasn't for Invasion Slayer with buddy spawning, I'd have little to no love for Hemorrhage.
This the buddy system is pretty much the best thing in the game only reason i like invasion slayer. also its never gonna change to BTB with changed settings if that's what you where hoping for. But there is a lot of people who like invasion slayer if you want to play it ask people to vote for it or get a group of people who like playing it or invite your friends to vote for it. But basicly in your OP sounds like you just want a whatever species you want BTB with weapon drops, that could be made in customs in a specifically made map and game type if you really want to play it and if its popular enough it may get put into matchmaking.
Personally, I'd rather see Invasion and Invasion Slayer in their own playlists. One thing I despise in Matchmaking is being forced to play Slayer when I want to play an objective type of game. This is one issue that the current playlists do not address... and I think could greatly reduce the amount of quits due to game type.
Invasion Slayer...I remember that mode...I scored -55 points by suiciding the entire game. We lost at around 60-5 because I suicided so much. Good times...good times. I don't really care about Invasion anything, because I don't play it. Heck, I haven't even played BTB for about a week.
That would be ideal, but in reality there's too many playlists already. And I don't know how any of you even get to play invasion slayer, I've played ilke 20 matches in the invasion playlist (trying for inv slayer) and I've only gotten invasion slayer once.
