Hi everybody! Just thought I'd show a preview on probably the first ever jetpack race map! Created by me (TheFretgod) and vI ArCxAnGel Iv in a little under 5 hours, and tweaked here and there after that. The first real test is going to start tomorrow with a couple of our friends to make sure everything is in the get go. All stats are normal (health, equipment). You cannot assassinate or harm other players. Vehicles are out of the question (although one part we give you a vehicle because there's a lot of ground to cover). The gametype is oddball and the first to pick it up wins. We've made sure that nobody will be taking any detours (certain death to those who try). There are checkpoints, although these are makeshift. Since forge doesn't let you use but a few teleporters, checkpoints are few, upping the difficulty of this map. This is not to be taken as a casual jetpack race! THIS STUFF IS HARD!!! AND LONG!!! I set the timer to 20 minutes and on my first go it got down to five minutes remaining and I consider myself a jetpack pro. Have a looksee at these pics and hopefully we can have this finalized in just a few days!
Could this possibly be the first GOOD jetpack map? It looks pretty decent. It looks pretty good, and its a great use of the checkpoint system. I will be downloading once the map is posted.
Yes this will probably be the first GOOD jetpack map. It is very difficult, and requires the use of a very special trick I taught myself with the jetpack. If you don't know the trick, you can never complete this course. I will let the map stay on for a few days when its ready to see if the public can complete it. If not, I will make a video of myself and vI ArCxAnGel Iv completing it so that maybe the public can learn a thing or two!
Doesn't the jetpack fly kinda slow to be considered racing? It doesn't have the best horizontal velocity...
Sure it doesn't have the best horizontal speed, and yes it can take just over 10 minutes to complete just 1 lap, but that's not because you're doing a crazy amount of walking. I guess you could consider it a race/obstacle course. First to reach the end wins. This is putting more of a strategic perspective on race.
Race doesn't always really imply that they're going to be going at a ridiculous high speed. Race is the best game type to achieve something like this. Looks awesome, I'll definitely download when it's done.
