Remake Epitaph

    [FONT=&quot]Remake of Epitaph from Halo 3[/FONT]

    [FONT=&quot]When I first started the development of this map, I hadn’t seen any other remakes of it. Since then I have seen a few pop up so I thought it was time to post mine.[/FONT]

    [FONT=&quot]The map should be fully functional with any new features reach has brought to the table but you never know what happens whenever other people look around. I would like to say its Jet Pack friendly for now but if you find that isn’t the case please let me know. I tried to make it mainly from memory, going by what felt right at the time but there are a few minor tweaks to the map.[/FONT]

    [FONT=&quot]The majority of the weapon placements are identical apart from changes bred through necessity (Lack of maulers etc.) [/FONT]

    [FONT=&quot]Brute Shot> Concussion Rifle

    [FONT=&quot]Hammer and Rockets etc. are the same.[/FONT]

    [FONT=&quot]The grav-lifts work as far as I have tested them so hopefully no problems there. Due to the nature of the major grav-lift on epitaph, being a wide zoned grav-lift, I have attempted something which I don’t know how it will affect gameplay. To try and simulate the large nature of the grav lift, I placed a teleporter roughly to the size of the original, so if you step in you get teleported 2-3 yards into the mancannon and then are fired up to the rockets, like the original.[/FONT]

    [FONT=&quot]Some of the features such as the large arching roof were intended to hopefully replicate the open space that Epitaph possessed. If anyone experiences lag etc. that will likely be the first thing to go as it’s purely aesthetic in nature.[/FONT]

    One way shield here to force you into taking the grav lift up and making sure you cant walk through the front to the side, though that shouldnt be possible because of grav lift placement.

    No! I rather base the map on pictures and pictures only. But seriously, although I would like to see maybe two more pictures of the map, I shall DL because that cool looking lift in the back caught my attention. But if I were you I would've put a few more pictures.

    i gotta say this looks much better than those others, but I think
    brute shot > Concussion rifle

    other than that this looks great, most other remakes have lighting that totally ruins it.

    add some railings to the catwalks and you're golden

    oh, and change the grenade launcher to a concussion rifle. much better fit for a brute shot.

    Updated to V2

    Updated to V2 (Link is updated) taking on board the comments from you guys, switched the grenade launcher for the concussion rifle.

    On the point about railings, still debating on that one since I have hardly any budget left. Deleting the roof is an option as that would be $50 a piece. Currently Railings vs Roof in my mind

    It looks like you just used bridge pieces for the catwalks (which have railings built in); couldn't you you just flip those over?

    Finally... a good remake of epitaph. IN halo 3, epitaph was a great map, especially for local games, and your remake looks spot on. I can't wait to try it out. I think it is fine without railings, because I would not want you to ruin the aesthetics of this awesome map. great job!
    seriously dude this map is amazing. If you delete the roof, than the feel of the map will be completely different. IT doesn't matter if people fall of every once in awhile, if you need to delete something, don't delete the roof!!!

    I did think about that, in cases where I was able to do it I have flipped them over. The problem is that a lot of the walkways intersect doors and turning them over then impacts the door functioning correctly.

    The way round this would be to use smaller pieces and fill in the gaps with building blocks+railings. The problem I have is two fold, I dont have the budget available and even If I did I dont have any pieces left required to do it. A lot of the walkways on Epitaph were also only using single side railings as they were all embedded into the wall on the near side.

    I think deleting the roof is the only real option, It looks nice but its also extremely costly.

    Good work, I would downloaded if I liked Epitaph, but in my opinion the map sucks...

    Now, if you did a variant like Epilogue, without shield door it would be VERY nice.

    swap the roof for the rails, also in your post you should add that most of the great spots are not in this remake. but being made from memory it is very well done.

    It looks very pretty but the proportion aren't the same... =/

    I think I will do a remake of this map too, and post it in Forgehub soon. But congratulation to your map which looks very well done ! =)

    (OMG, I sure I destroy english language in each my post, that's terrible ! ='/ )
