Vicinage is an original squad battle map I have boon working on for the last couple weeks. I have had two tests so far, and both have gone fairly well. I have gotten mostly good feedback, although removing the gauss hog turned out to be a bad decision. The map does take inspiration from halo 2 vista's District. Here is the badly shopped overview(ill have a better one soon : P)
From the overview, I'm gonna take a stab and predict that all the team needs to do is hold the centre and look at all the spawn areas. This may create some very frustrating gameplay as the only way you can get out of any spawn areas there is by going through the middle. I'd recommend trying to create multiple ways into each of the areas by connecting them with tunnels and walkways that don't force players to just go through the centre of the map.
Yes i think Stevo has a good point, maybe try putting like an upside down T shaped tunnel at the bottom of the map between the 2 spawns and the middle? And maybe the same kinda thing at the top? The more ways to get to that middle point, the less defendable it is. As long as the center of the map is where you want the fighting to be i dont think it would be a problem. Good luck with it anyway, seems like its coming along nicely.
Actually, I haven't had any problems with the top being an overpowered location. There are a very large amount of ways to get to the bridge.
I have one major gripe that basically overshadows the rest of the map: Huge lack of cover, and it seems spawn camping can, and will happen.
