Sapphire is located in the Lagoon area of Forgeworld, it is a 4v4 slayer or CTF map (may add additional objective types based on gameplay). It is not the first map I have made on Forgeworld, most of my original projects have been scrapped due to my lack of interest in them. There are many levels to the map as you can see in the screenshots and several routes to take to avoid pinch zones. The map features both aesthetic and constructive items that are blended together to create a unique experience for all players. It includes long range as well as close range combat to appeal to all types of players. Blue Base Overlook: Red Base Overlook: Top Mid: Another view of Top Mid: Bottom Mid: There is a teleporter at each base and on each side of bottom mid that takes you to top mid which is where a lot of action will be. Mancannons are located on each side of bottom mid and give you quick access to top gold and top green which are located off each base. There are also mancannons below each base which take you up to the base to flank the teams from below but one-way shields prevent an easy flag run through the bottom of the map. I was an avid forger in Halo 3 and have 5 years experience as a computer draftsman so everything is snapped to specific coordinates to preserve symmetry and keep the map clean. Let me know if there's anything to improve the map if you guys do playtest it as most of my forges rarely see custom play due to me trying to make everything perfect before releasing.
one word... WOW... Dude... this map is crazy, i really like the aesthetics and it just beautiful... lol i don't know what to say. One concern, not about your map, but your post is that you should put the weapons you have on the map... it helps people see the balance. but none-the-less, GREAT map... dl from me =D
Nice map, I really like the aesthetics and all, but one thing: the tin cup looks fake to some extent when looking at it for about 3-5 seconds. Not a big problem but could be something to look at in a version 2. Overall I'd give this map 9.3/10, probably one of the best ratings I could ever give a map. By the way, I remember playing matchmaking with you once; strange that I saw you again on forgehub.
Man, the last picture looks damn familiar. I had a Halo 3 map that had the same design but I never finished it. I just became too lazy. You did a very good job, this map has great aesthetics and what looks like a good balance for gameplay as well. I can tell that you did many things intentionally to add cover. I will download and play this tomorrow with friends. Sexy map dude.
Thanks for the positive feedback guys, I was posting this map to see what kind of feedback I would get from it, I really don't know what weapons to use on the map to make it balanced but so far there are: 1x Rockets 1x Sword 4x Assault Rifle 4x Magnum 2x Needler 2x Needle Rifle 2x DMR 2x Shotgun 2x Plasma Nade
by the looks of it, i'm remind of a forerunner version of Halo 2's Gemini. can't wait to go through it. probably get around doing it tomorrow before the Giants game.
I ran through it this morning, and its definitely nice. I can't see how you fit all of this so close to the kill barriers.
Sounds pretty good for the most part. I suggest you up the DMRs to 4, take off 1 shotgun and remove 1-2 of the ARs and Magnums. Also, you could remove the center weapon (I believe it was a Rocket Launcher?) so you can add compatibility to King of the Hill, Oddball, and Neutral Bomb. It's always good to have a lot of compatible gametypes so the map doesn't get too boring after multiple plays in a row. Also, I think it would be cool if you expanded the map in a V2 or V3, maybe with another floor at the bottom? It seems a little small when you actually get in the game, especially for 4v4.
This map looks awesome. Will you be entering it in the Forgetacular contest? A definite download I can't wait to play it when my Xbox is fixed...
Wow nice map, great looking and very balanced. I tried to find it to see if you would make a gemstone map pack with the creator of "Emerald"
Hey, your download link is not working That sucks because this looks like a spectacular map! Lovin the aesthetics.
Sorry, I made a v2 of the map, I guess I forgot to edit the download link, it's fixed now. Thanks for the heads up!
