About Emerald: Emerald is an objective style map, with a layout which heavily supports FFA or team slayer. Inspired by the control room in the Halo 2 campaign (in the space station), I turned it into a fully functioning multiplayer map. Perfect for swat, and perfect for setting up those 1x1 with people who think you suck. YOU’LL SHOW THEM. Emerald is partitioned into three components, and is explained as follows: The central assembly room has incremental coverage on an upward slope, and a wrap-around loft with handrails. It is encased in glass and very tall support beams. The room has a brilliant green sheen, and is reflected by all the glass. On the upper portion of the assembly room, most of the neutral objectives take place. On the lower potion of the room, most of the battling will take place, due to traffic. The blue base has an offensive-style structure. A simpler, less intricate design makes it easy to quickly establish grounds, but also makes it harder to defend during multi-objective game-types. From the blue base, there is access to the Assembly room through the blue tunnel, or access to a lower elbow, extending into the Red base’s junction (which eventually leads to the red tunnel) The red base has a defensive-style structure. This is slightly more complex, with two layers and more coverage. From the red base, there is access to the Assembly room through the blue tunnel, or access to a higher elbow, and a circular ramp to the lower elbow. health station (x4) DMR (x4) Plasma grenades (x6) Frag Grenades (x4) Plasma Repeater (x2) Plasma Pistol (x2) Grenade Launcher (x1) Needle Rifle (x1) Rocket Launcher (x1) Energy Sword (x1) Shotgun (x1) Sniper rifle (x1) Assembly Room Upper Assembly Room Lower Assembly Room to Blue Base Assembly Room to Red Base Red Base Blue Base Blue Elbow Junction Red Elbow Junction [looking from] Red Elbow Junction [looking at, from red base] DOWNLOAD EMERALD
beautiful map tuba. Emerald is my favorite of your 3. This map is AWESOME for swat. 2x2 or 4x4. although it's so compact, it's so dynamic. It's an exceptional FFA map, and I was thinking to myself "is it gonna work for teams". So we tried stockpile, and multi flag. Stockpile was more fun than swordbase in my opinion. alot of interesting battles happened in that assembly room. multiflag was intense too, but really quick. similar to the feel of countdown. here's my breakdown: playability: 9/10 environment: 10/10 balance 9/10 weapon placement 8/10 shelter:strongholds ratio 9/10 total:9.0
@lead chariot thanks for your input bro. you're always the first person to test my maps. is there anything you saw that might need to be tweaked?
i have an idea you should have a 2v2 version of the map, where the red and blue tunnels are blocked off. so the assembly room is the only space to play on. it'd be a good swat or KOTH map.
thanks guys! hope this map produces more fun than it does aesthetics. @lead chariot, that's a pretty sweet idea. i'll let you have the freedom to modify it however you want. repost the link on this thread if you do
Aesthetically beautiful, had a chance to play this with a good group and had a great time. This is a favorite for my usual team with swat, it's very creative! keep up the awesome work!
This is a pretty cool map, maybe we could get together and make a gemstone map pack since my last map I made was called Sapphire.
yeah it's a good use of colos' windows in that main room. sweet lights too. not to mention the unique layout...
i appreciate it guys. don't forget to link me to any maps you make. I love testing and reviewing, not to mention playing
This looks a map of uniqeness i downloaded and going to explore as soon as i get on later =} got a download from me.
is it against the forum rules to say that this map is so off the chain that my mind exploded! Also I love the idea of you and that other person making a gemstone map pack!
thanks xHITx, i still haven't worked with Celic on the proposed gemstone map pack, but i added him and when i get some free time we'll work on it.
checked out your band tuba... i'm definitely buying your new album. you said you'll be on iTunes right? when does it come out?
Good map, I would have made it one of my nominations for forgehub favorites. However, the circular ramp in the base used as aesthetics is a bit too close to the built-in soft kill zone. Other than that, it's a great map. Not good enough, as it is, to be a nomination for forgehub, though. I find soft kill zone "bugs" to be one of the biggest problems with good maps. If you can fix that, then the map is definitely top-notch.
ahh crap. could have sworn i debugged it. so there's playable area with softkill on the circular ramp by red base?
i really want to see more halo 2 campaign remakes like this. You did such an awesome job and right when i saw the first picture i knew it was from halo 2. i know sooooo many places in halo 2's campaign that should be made into multiplayer maps and it would be awesome if i could work with you to remake something. Excellent symmetry btw
