Martyrs on the Great Journey This minigame takes place on a long stretch of road between 2 large buildings. The martyrs are the Covenant, and the Chief is in a Rocket Hog. The Chief has to hold out for two minutes, while the Covenant attempt to complete their Great Journey (imagine that there's some magical control pad for all seven Halos right next to Chief). Basically, dodge the Rockets as you try to make your way down the Road. Chief's spawn. Another view. Covenant spawn. Another view. Yep, that's a long Road. (Goes as far as rockets travel) Chief has a debris cannon on his side. It shoots crap as far as he can crap. After 15 seconds, the Covenant receive reinforcements in the form of Ghosts. (There are supposed to be 6, but they don't always spawn at the 15 second mark) After 30 seconds, they receive Warthogs. (All 6 ghosts usually appear by now) After 70 seconds, they receive a Tank. (Custom powerup also increases damage resistance) The Journey will not be easy. Many of your kind will die on the path. Ka-blooie! Bigger vehicles mean bigger booms. In case you missed the DL links, or you just refuse to scroll back up through all that stuff, here are the links AGAIN! Martyrs on the Great Journey Don't ask why the Covies have human vehicles. Or why they look suspiciously like Spartans. PS: I don't know if the custom powerup works correctly, or if there are still bugs, due to the looooong line and small testforce of the Testers Guild. And I haven't been able to find enough people playing Reach online at the same time to test it myself.
"It shoots crap as far as he can crap" is a wonderful line. XD All joking aside, I'll have to download this and try it out with some friends.
I thought this looked interesting until I saw the scorpion tank. Surely that's an instant gameover for the chief. You don't have to be a pro to shoot a tank cannon in a straight line down a long road. 70 seconds seems a bit too soon, if the tank remains.
Aha, but the thing is, the platform Chief is on is lower than the actual road. No one's been able to kill him via tank shot yet. The Covenant also do 0% damage, so the only way Chief's dying is if the tank makes it all the way down the road (which is highly unlikely, due to the size of it). If anything, the tank is for morale, cover, and lulz.
If the gametype is "Martyrs on", then when you pause in-game it'll say "Martyrs on on the Great Journey".
you know the name "martyrs on the great journey" sounds really cool, but I think the game type and map see a little underwhelming. simply making the covenant actually elites would make things more interesting.
Well, yeah, looking back, I see that Martyrs on the Great Journey would make a great title for an Invasion map. But I don't want to do something that committing. And I thought that Rocket Road would seem a bit bland. And I don't think you can force species in games (outside of slayer).
you can't? huh... thats weird. lemme look into that some more. the invasion gametype would be if teams switched sides... still, ill llok at that too.
