Here's some (bad) pics of the map I've been working on. It's a symmetrical (about as symmetrical as paradiso.) map that's loacated on the island. I built this map kinda putting my own twist on a BTB map, while fixing all the problems of paradiso (yes, that means the mountain is inaccessible). There's a pic of the base. It's a bad angle and some things have been changed, but that's the basic layout of things. 2 geese, 1 revenant, one rocket hog (subject to change). That's the middle bridge. It's wide enough to fit a scorpian comfortable, and features nice smooth transitions. That bunker has a lone sniper, and a lift that shoots you up to the middle path (up by the mountain). The falcon structure. This is pretty much the central point of the map. Here teams battle for the falcon up top, or the rockets down below. And that's all. Hopefully I can get an 8v8 test together this weekend. If the map plays well enough, I'm hoping to submit it to the forgetacular contest. I've also got a few thousand dollars in the budget, so I'm open to additions and suggestions.
Whoa there is one think that I really like about this map is how you made the island bigger with the Colosseum walls and flat rocks. Nice work in that feature. As for the rest perhaps more work is needed in the flatter areas. Other then that a nice map.
Thanks. The reason for expanding the island was so each base could have an even area. There's a weird slant on on side that required me to push the one base (the one pictures) all the way back to the water. Then I needed to expand the space behind the base in order for it to be more similar to the red base. If you're talking about the flat areas behind the base, I'm planning on building some aesthetic pieces to fill up that space. Other then that you need some open areas for the vehicles to romp around in. I understand your concern, as I had similar worries, but I think I've got a nice balance of safe areas for foot travelers and spaces for vehicle combat.
Would you mind inviting me to the game? I'd like to see this map, and possibly give a little constructive criticism.
Since I haven't played on it yet, I can't help but worry that it'll play to similarly to Paradiso (I don't really like Paradiso very much). If you'd like to add me to the playtest (if you haven't done it already), I'd love to join in and be proved wrong in regards to it playing like Paradiso.
