Set in an airport terminal, Now Boarding is excellent for small parties.

One problem you've undoubtedly run into while playing Halo: Reach is that so many of the fun maps require boatloads of people to play. Now Boarding is the smallest map I've ever made (not so small in dimensions, necessarily, but small in its feel and recommended number of players). No, you probably won't enjoy 8 vs. 8 on this map very much. But for one-on-one, small free-for-all or doubles matches, it's great.

The original working title of this map was "Terminal," but it was changed to avoid confusion (no, this isn't a remake of Halo 2's Terminal, nor is it a replica of Terminal on Modern Warfare 2). Still, it's set in what appears to be an airport, with metal detectors, a baggage scanner, and, of course, deadly weapons all around. Also make note of the tunnel that runs underneath part of the map—you can see down into it through the glass above.

The main design strategy on this map was simplicity. Yes, I could have added more details in places, but we know it's my tendency to over-do it at times. I just wanted to create a simple (if not minimalistic) map that's open enough to encourage you to keep moving.

    Weapons on Map:

There are two main power weapons on the map--the Sniper Rifle and the Shotgun--but each is limited to a single clip (no extra ammo). I find that this works well with small games to prevent one person from dominating. There's also a concussion rifle located near the metal detectors.

    DMR x 3
    Needler x 2
    Plasma Rifle x 2
    Concussion Rifle x 1
    Needle Rifle x 1
    Plasma Pistol x 1
    Shotgun x 1
    Sniper Rifle x 1
    Frag Grenade x 2

Because of the size of the map, it is not set up for any objective games (besides Oddball).

    Recommended Players: 2-6

Looks Sweet. You're really pumping maps out. Downloaded Vindication yesterday but only walked through it. Haven't played it. Will do the same for this when I get a chance.

i love it except for one thing. Provided you want the smoothest gameplay possible, the 4th picture shows one small problem. The 4 small ramps to go on the elevated window thing does not go around the entire window. So everytime one would pass it, they may have to go out of their way to jump over it which may be annoying. I'm sorry if i explained that badly but that's the best i could do. Just try putting 2 x 2 ramps instead of 1 x 2 and put banks in all four corners. That should solve the problem. That's just my opinion. Other than that, fantastic job.

Thanks for the positive feedback, everyone. Yooitzdono, I think I know what you are talking about. I want to say I tried that and it caused other problems... but I can't remember. I will look into it. Thanks for pointing it out.

Great map. It's not going to turn heads like some of the other maps, but it's a lot of fun, as you said, for small games. It definitely looks like an airport, too. My main criticism is that, even though I know you wanted to keep it simple, there's not ENOUGH detail. Some spaces seem very ... plain. Anyway, solid map. 8/10.

Decent map... Good precision and cleanness. I like some of the creative aspects of it, like the metal detectors, but it's a little bit boring, to be honest. It feels like I'm just screwing around on an unfinished map in forge with a couple buddies.

7/10 simply because it looks like you took your time and appearance is nice. The 3 points I didn't give you are due to underwhelming game play.

Fair enough. I could understand why someone might find this map a little plain. However, the driving force behind the design was simplicity--I'm talking Halo CE simplicity. I'll keep your feedback in mind, though. Don't worry. My next map will be a lot more interesting.

This is the perfect one-on-one map. I have enjoyed your maps and look forward to playing on the ones to come as you get more accustomed to Forge.

I like that you kept things simple.... this map is just interesting enough with the airport decor, yet it keeps from becoming too complicated or confusing. Impeccable weapon balance as well. Nice work.

Nice map, looks pretty nice, particularly the metal detectors. A decent scattering of weapons too. My only issue is that in some places there is nothing to break up the sight lines so fights may get a little bland e.g. some of the bottom floor, the area behind the sniper bunker and the path opposite the sniper bunker. Other than that, it looks like it would play pretty well.
