    Bringing the pandemonium of the biggest race in America and 1 uping the great american race the way only Halo can do! Taking my love for creating racetracks my first map Island Gran Prix provided a unique tour of the island in forge world. This time i wanted to aim for a more realistic race course.

    While not a Nascar fan i thought it would be fun taking a warthog a few laps around the track. "But, Scott.. going around circles is boring", I quite agree hence why im not a Nascar fan, but in Halo we dont just create a track to race in circles, we need destruction and pure adrenaline filled racing. Thats why i incorporated landmines on the banked turns, and 6 vehicle man cannons to throw you off..giving a new meaning to "Rubbin' is Racin".

    Since having a limited budget i could not half as much as i wanted including stadium seats for the main seating area, sidewalls, and or lights around the track to name a few. I tried to create this track as an exact replica from memory (thanks to Gran Turismo for allowing me to remember the layout) and tried to create a fun experience that everyone can enjoy.

    Since this is a fairly standard track i felt mongooses were not adequate due to their low speed and very crappy suspension (feeling every bump). So i decided to include Warthogs due to their larger size, better handling, and faster speed. With most laps taking about 25-35 seconds depending on your maneuvering around the obstacles i made the race 10 laps to make for a decent experience that isnt over too quickly. So be sure to download the gametype to get the best experience out of the map.

    does there really need to be all of the extras such as man cannons and landmines?
    can you make a version without all of these things then i might download...

    Originally it was just strictly the track but when I had people testing the mentioned that it was boring and the land mines and man cannons provided a challenge and made it more fun to play. I recommend trying it, but if you don't like it by all means you can go ahead and delete all the landmines and mancannons. But I think you will like it.

    But then it's just oval racing, and in Halo it's near impossible to overtake in a run of the mill race. The Mines and mancannons add another variable into it so it's less predictable etc. That's why quite a few people say NASCAR is boring, because all you do is race around an oval (i know it's strategy based as well, but thats the point they bring up).

    Onto the map. The driving apect of it works well - there are no game breaking bumps in the track, only a few very tiny (almost unnoticable) elevation changes that the warthog can easily handle. I can sympathise when I say it's hard to make the track 100% smooth without spending a good portion of your free time on it.The pits seems like a wasted oppurtinity to me, maybe as a future idea extend a lap to 3-4 circuits of the track and have a run through the pits on the fourth lap? Just an idea as it seems pointless having a pit lane that is never used apart from starting in it.

    Aesthetically the map seems to find a nice balance between blocking out the background and not surrounding you with intricately designed sculptures. The stands work well and you can't really get stuck working your way down them if you hit a mancannon. The Start/finish line & light is a nice touch too. You can ignore this part of my review if you want, im more of a gameplay > graphics guy.

    Overall I'd give this map a 8.5/10, for spicing up a racing genre that would otherwise seem like a very boring and difficult concept to have fun in halo with.

    Thanks for the review I'm glad you enjoyed it. With reference to the pit lane I decided to leave that out and have a strict race, but with the other game modes I am making the pits are completely open. My goal for this was to stick to a Nascar style race, and have pits to keep the look of the map. Maybe you could review my first map id love to hear an in depth opinion.

    My suggestion? Play Rocket Race in matchmaking and save that. That way you can still keep the unpredictability without mines and mancannons.

    I am making another gametype for that, but the problem is the checkpoints dont spawn in the order i want them to and if you fall of the track you will spawn randomly so there are alot of kinks to work out to get that to work right.
