there are a couple areas that are off, but overall i was very impressed with how much this feels and looks like narrows. i havent played a "official" game on it, but we messed around FFA on the map and i gotta say it really does feel like narrows. i was also impressed by the aesthetic touches at either end of the map (the waterfall, and the teles) very nice touch. jetpacking out from the top mid and getting midair assassinations on people who are flying through the mancannons = awesome. looking forward to the polished final version =)
really good looking remake of Narrows. Some of the proportions were off but overall a really fun map. Played it with some friends on my second account, plenty of fun. It really brings back some memories from H3.
woohoo over 3,000 downloads for my Narrows already on version 3. That puts me to 16,500 total from all three versions so far.
I love the map... But I have two problems with it. 1. The Sniper is off-centered, so the one who runs to the left side from spawn will get it first. 2. In the official MLG settings, when you take the lift, you take damage when landing.
yeah the lift damage isn't something I can really control for both variants of the game (default and MLG settings). Bungie should include a fall damage on or off option for custom games. Thank you for downloading the map.
Hey fame, accept my friend invite (beastroast) i really want to help you with the construct remake. it could be really awesome, but its not quite there yet. also, i think the next remake should be the pit. no one has done that map justice yet. its really a shame
I wasn't online for a week because I was sewing, gluing, sawing, painting Halloween props for a kids party that we did on Saturday. Now that I have finished that and I must say our electric chair (it vibrated in the seat and helmet) came out amazing. On topic though - I am waiting to see what the forgotten treasures contest brings. I have seen a few great attempts at the pit so I am going to download those and see if it's still necessary to remake it if none of them are any good.
I fixed the fall damage for MLG settings, but I haven't played it on regular. Don't worry, I made sure you still have full credit. It was a simple 5 degree move of the man-cannon, and I removed the barriers. Oh, and on the Pit topic, I'd love for you to make a Pit remake for MLG settings. None of them work unless you use 125% gravity.
What a beautiful remake. It's a shame though, because I and my many friends have absolutely no use for an MLG version. When remaking things, I recommend always doing the original, or having two versions. The only other thing is that I feel really condensed in the lower "brute shot spawn" areas.
I loved the throw back. Great job in remaking all the things that made narrows awesome. GJ on the lifts. Great remake.
Can you say AWESOME! Loved this map in Halo 3, love it now ever more in Reach. Thanks for the awesome remake! I'd love to see more high-quality remakes like this one. It truely is a masterpiece. DLing when I get home.
Wow amazing. I was looking for an accurate Narrows remake and this seems to be a godsend. I love how you even retained the little climbable walk slopes on each base where people used ot snipe from. Great job bro !
I think this is the best Narrows remake, but I really dislike the use of the shield doors as breaks. Is there any way to use additional lifts or cannons as bumpers? I saw it used well on someone else's map or an earlier version of yours. There is a lot of screen lag looking from sniper to sniper. If you replaced the window walls with regular double walls it wouldn't require as much rendering. It doesn't affect gameplay because glare has already made the windows mostly useless. I love a lot of your detail work but I wonder if reducing or simplifying some of it might help reduce the screen lag. Maybe replacing the Crenelation/1x2's with the underside of Braces where you can. Obviously in some areas that would be impossible. Keep up the good forging, and don't be afraid to update your map even if it has a lot of downloads!
I will be working on a version without any lag very soon actually. I'm so excited to see that my map made it into the top 5!!!
This is an awesome remake. I downloaded it quite a while ago and played with the man cannons a bit. I got them working perfectly. You still can't do the grenade thing but the lifts work awesomely. If you're interested drop me a line and I'll put it in my fileshare for you. Thanks for the awesome map!
Dweight: Thanks for the input, I would like to take a look at the man cannons adjustments, but the trajectory angle I had them at was the same as the original maps so that you could see everything happening top mid for a moment. If yours works the same without damage I'd love to see it though. I'm gonna sign onto Halo Reach today perhaps, I've recently only been playing a ton of Black Ops hardcore Search and Destroy (It's a lot of fun and so much less stressful than halo these days.) [br][/br]Edited by merge: I made a lag free or absolutely minimal lag variation of this map. If anyone wants to download it they can find it on my fileshare... I didn't remove the color lights, but if anyone wanted to remove them so there was even less of a chance for screen lag they can on their own version.
am i the only one who noticed that the man cannons are on the same side when they should be on opposite sides? Otherwise great remake, no framerate issues and the spawns are good. Played a game of snipers and it was fun!

Pretty awesome remake. The boys and I ran around V3 and had some good fun. Gotta admit I had to fuss with the man cannons in forge to get it closer to what I wanted. Also swapped around a few items on the map. Even though we really liked this map I feel there's still room for improvement. You must have as well cause I just queued up V4. Can't wait to try it out.
