Redoubt

    First post in here, nothing fancy, no over the top lettering to support my map. Just straight up words in your face!

    Redoubt is a rotationally symmetrical, compact, vertically sprawling map with the distinct focus on straight up slayer gametypes. As I've been looking through the maps here, and thinking about the ones already in Reach, I realized there is not one single good small scale map. Everything is either big or too big, and I spend most of the game running around looking for people instead of getting right into the thick of things.

    I definitely had Halo 3, in particular the pit in mind while working, and feel this holds true to some of that inspiration.

    So what I have done is tried to make something that pushes the player into a frantic firefight right off the bat. Each team has equal chance at all power weapons and tactical attack points, and it really comes down to how you can function together as a unit to gain the upper hand.

    Weapons:
    The weapon drops for Redoubt are as follows:

    Rocket Launcher x 1
    Sword x 1
    Sniper Rifle x 2
    Shotgun x 2
    DMR x 6
    Needler x 2
    Needle Rifle x 2

    Things to consider:

    The one thing I have considered adding is either a concussion rifle or grenade launcher to bottom middle lobby ( The enclosed space in the very bottom middle of the map) in order to create incentive for navigating that space. However, there's already a fairly good concentration of power weapons and that may just be overkill. Hopefully as people play through it and I get some feedback I'll be able to find out whether or not it needs to be added, or if it works fine as is.

    Sorry, these don't do it complete justice, but I couldn't get out far enough to get a quality shot of the entire complex that I built. I might try a flythrough, but I'm really inexperienced with such a thing. We shall see.

    Sorry that's all I've got for screenshots, I assure you there are some interesting aspects to the layout that I just can't capture without video.

    Play it through, find me on LIVE so we can play through it together so I can maybe get some quality testing done on it. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

    Did a quick forgethrough and all i can say is awesome. Only problem i have is the turret. I'm guessing it was placed so it wasn't overpowered, but i say it is underpowered. You can barely hit anything, and there's cover where you can shoot. About the concussion rifle/grenade launcher, I say since someone can grab the rocket and jump down to the basement, it's good. And for the life of me i couldn't find the sword. Awesome map.

    I agree about the turrets, they were a suggestion from a friend who loves turrets basically haha.

    Hey just an update,

    I decided to go ahead and add the Grenade Launcher to the ground middle lobby, and added support for headhunter gametypes.

    Also,

    If anyone would like to help me get some gameplay on this, I really want to test it 4v4 to get a sense of how it plays and how people feel about it.

    my Gamertag is threesided, so just add me and maybe we can set something up. I'll be more than willing to reciprocate the favour on any maps you want tested as well!
