Some of you people that used to play the Halo: Custom Edition on the PC years ago may remember a custom map called "Halo Ball". I am creating that map/game type for Reach but need a little help. I would like to force players to be in the warthogs at all times because that is how the game is played. Use the warthogs to put the ball in the goal. I don't think I can use the Race game type to do this because I don't know of a way to do "scoring" with that game type. Does anyone know how to force players into vehicles in a different game type than race? If it's not possible I guess I'll just work around that. Below is also a screenshot preview of the map. Thanks for the help!

Here's a link to my Halo Ball preview if you want to take a look: Halo Ball

you could set it so there is a kill barrier on the floor, low enough to not kill vehicles, but high enough to kill people walking, spawn them on top of their warthogs and have them spawn on the walls with jetpacks to jetpack to your warthog.

Spawn people with the warthogs in a separate box with a teleporter set to vehicle encompassing the entire box. Place the teleporter receiver wherever you want it on the playing field. To keep people in their warthogs, place a vehicle only teleporter encompassing the play area set to players only with the receiver in a kill ball or under water. Regarding the map, you might want to have a slight incline around the edges, otherwise the ball could end up stuck in a corner.

TL;DR Make a giant, map-covering Teleporter spawn a few seconds after the game starts. Make it lead to a Kill-Zone. If you're in a vehicle, you'll be unaffected. But, dare to exit your vehicle and Bam!, the teleporter will take you to your death.

By the way, Haloball was fun.

Could you label the warthogs as a respawn zone?

Or make it so there is no ammo whatsoever.

    That is impossible.

Wouldn't this mean that anyone who had their hog flipped would be permanently out of the game? As soon as you fell out you'd teleport and die, and when you respawned you'd teleport and die again before being able to get back in to another hog. The only way around this would be having a respawn platform or something to account for this, but then players could still sit out of their vehicles up there after respawning thus meaning you'd sorta be back to square one.

if you do the teleporter one if a player flips his warthog he will be dead at all times

    Added after 2 minutes:

You could make it to where a player cant jump at all if a player cant jump he could be ran over easily, so it gives players a reason to stay in the hogs

That's a good idea. I'll add that in for sure. Thanks.

So far I think the best solution is to make a soft kill zone on the floor so if you get knocked out, you have 10 seconds to get back in.

Since your arena is a flat surface you could do this:

Have a soft kill barrier a certain height off the floor so that if you're in a vehicle your above it, but if you get out and walk around on foot you're inside it. (Yes this works, I've tested it)

This means you'd have 10 seconds to get back in a vehicle if you either a) get out of it on purpose or b) get flipped over. Take any longer than 10 seconds, and BAM, you're gone sunshine! Make sure to change their Jump Height settings so that they can't jump out of the barrier too.

If you don't wanna give players 10 seconds then make it a hard kill barrier instead, but that's a bit mean...

Although, maybe the Rocket Race variant could be useful in this situation?

Ya that's what I decided to do. It works out well. Its just enough time to get back into your warthog, should you get knocked out. Thanks.
