About: My first map that I'm posting and (hopefully) getting extended feedback on. Shield (not the final name, just couldnt think of anything) is a mostly symmetrical map set in the lagoon. It supports Slayer, Oddball, Assault, and CTF (pref multi but i suppose one sided would work). I drew inspiration from Midship and Waterworks (in principle), and think it resembles a much smaller scale version of the latter. It does not use vehicles. Each base is virtually the same (a couple of spawns might be an inch or two off). They're both 3-story towers. Initial spawns are on the bottom floor, with a grav lift pushing you to level 2. Its not hard to avoid the grav lift and go out to the front block, which has a needle rifle. In the back of each base at level 2 is a ramp leading to level 3 (shotgun), with each team's goal objective back here as well. From there a bridge ramp leading up to the upper middle paths. The lower level middle paths on both sides are accessible through level 1's side doors. The paths on the shady side of the level have an upper and lower level, and a rock formation attached to the lagoon wall allows for navigation between the two (at only one point though, this may change). Above is a sniper rifle at the highest point of the level, below is an overshield. The room (or purple room, or rockets), opposite the rocks, is a triple room with another overshield, two plasma repeaters, rockets (only accessible via teleporter at each base), and the focus rifle. The room figures to be a major choke point and holding it should be critical to success. Soft kill barriers exist around rocket spawn and the FR, for the sole purpose of preventing camping (you have plenty of time to grab your weapon and get out). Haven't tested it, but from working on it as much as I have I'd say its a 4-12 player map. Please, add some central "dancefloor". It doesn't even have to be that big, but the pathways are VERY limited. And more walways/platforms leading to alternate routes would also be greatly appreciated.
I agree with cjay, add a central area, maybe four path ways extending fomr the four platforms to the middle, you can even make the middle 2 levels high so that It doens't get spammed on from above
