Ok, so I've made a CTF map and I've come across a few problems when it comes to the flag spawns. And yes, I have read the required objects guide. That guide tells you what is required on the map to have the game launch a certain gametype, but it tells you nothing of how to actually adjust up the settings. Anyways... One problem I have is that the red team flag does not spawn where I placed it (on the flag marker) when playing a symmetrical game of CTF, but rather about half a 1x1 block away. Why does it do this? Also, the same flag does not spawn when playing the one-flag gametype at all; anyone know the proper settings to make it work? Bonus question/problem: Is it at all possible to have your flag spawn in one spot, and have your flag capture point at another? I'm assuming that the flag marker is where your flag spawns, and that the capture plate is where you bring the enemy flag to score, but when testing this, I noticed that the flag will spawn at the capture plate regardless. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks in advance for any help I hope is coming my way.
What object are you using for the flag spawn? I've found that the flag stand keeps it neatly on top of the marker.
I'm using the "Flag Marker" for both red and blue teams. On the blue team it spawns fine, but for the red team it spawns half a 1x1 block away. Weird. And if it's any problem I want to fix, it's the fact that the flag wont spawn at all when I set it to the one-flag gametype. Have any solutions for that one?
I have never attempted to do 1 flag and doubt I ever will, so no, I have no suggestions on that unfortunately. Seems like it would be self explanatory, but maybe it isn't.
Is the red team's flag marker merged into the ground slightly? That might effect its spawnyness. For the not spawning in one-flag, have you actually forged under the one-flag gametype and added one in?
I had this problem once, is there a low ceiling in the room the flag is in? If there is not enough room for the flag to fit completely on the stand then it will spawn in the nearest location it fits
As for One-flag, I beleive the red team always starts defending... Don't forget Neutral Flag, which requires a neutral flag... Basically, you need at least three flags: one red, one blue, and one neutral... As for the having separate flag spawn and return points, I'm not sure that's supported. If someone know otherwise, please let me know... I'd love to know how to do this!
@Em0srawk: I placed the red team flag on the floor using "normal" physics, but then changed it to phase after being placed, then I placed the flag capture plate on top of it using phase and even sunk the capture plate just a little bit into the ground. And no, I have not yet actually gone into one-flag forge gametype and placed a flag in... I figured I had done it already in the CTF forge gametype. Is that not enough? Do I have to go into the one-flag forge gametype and place another flag for one-flag? @Dabobyjoeson: The flag is under a ceiling that isn't flat, but rather " / " shape. It moves the flag, but it's still under the same ceiling under the same height. @Mallias: Oh yeah, I know the red team is always on defense first. Uhh...
I don't remember for sure, but does the flagstand item in forge offer you a radius of effect? If so, I think what I did to ensure spawn placement was to make my area neither sphere nor box, but none. That may help with the flag adjusting side to side, and as for your flag not working for 1 flag, I agree that one option is to put it in 1 Flag mode and just forge in another. The other may be to check and see if you have your "2-flag" as gametype specific: False. If this value is true than it certainly would not work as 1 flag. At least that it my understanding. Hope this helps.
