After seeing several users building amazing sculptures in the forge, I decided to try making one of my own that could also preform as a playable base. Behold, The Colossis! Once I finished all the inner objects used to climb from the foot to the head, I polished it off with outer armor, weaponry and pretty shield-eyes. With my remaining budget, I built a base around the mountain tunnel and decided this setup would be perfect for a big 'one bomb assault' game. Because the distance between the ground base, and the robot's head (where the bomb gets planted), I decided a gametype variant was required so the bomb carrier(s) could actually reach the goal before time ran out. The 'One Bomb - Full Vehicle' variant gives the bomb carrier full movement speed and the ability to operate any of the aircraft on the ground base. All you have to do is get through the many defenses of the robot's crew, plant 3 bombs it it's head, and crack open a nice cold Budweiser to celebrate your victory!
Not bad for a first try. I really think that the tank on the arm was a really neat idea =) totally reminds me of those high tech iron man style weapons. Because of the mix of aesthetics and playablity, im not sure how well the map will play though, have you tested it yet?
I was only able to test it with a small group, and quite frankly it NEEDS a real test with at least 10 players. With the small group the defense of the robot and the offense using the vehicles works out, but the distances between the bases is just a bit too high for a 1-2 man team to keep running back and fourth. I'm hoping to make enough contacts via this forum to properly test this (and future) maps.
i've always wanted all of the different sculptures that people make to have an actual gametype with them.... so thanks, even if its not the best you get kudos for at least attempting one... and the arm tank thing is brilliant, cant wait to play
