    Hello members of Forge Hub.

I am new to this site as of roughly 10 minutes ago and new to forge AND Halo Online as of 3 weeks ago, however my Halo: Reach rank is on the higher end (won't post it because it changes) and I have made, what appears to be, a successful map.

I was hoping to use this thread to introduce myself as well as get some things clarified.

    A quick intro:
My GT is Necrotic Pestis. I prefer to be a symmetrical creator when it comes to basic maps (they tend to be team based) but I plan on making some asymmetrical maps for Invasion or 1 Flag and similar variants. I lean toward old-school FPS more over than newer style (Loadouts/classes/perks etc) although I do enjoy the newer style. I find my inspiration in games such as Halo 2, Unreal Tournament 3, Red Faction 1 and 2 etc.

A few things I need clarified:
First of all, this site looks like it is going to be another one of my virtual homes for quite a while (along with bungie.net, gmail.com and callofduty.com lol) and as such i would like to get acquainted with it as soon as possible.
I have browsed around the forums a little bit already but I have become overwhelmed in my explorations so I was hoping that you guys may be able to answer some questions here so that I can use this site to its full potential, prove to be an asset to others here as well as not annoy them. I know some of these may have been answered already elsewhere on the site but please, just link them for me or answer it, no flaming necessary.

    - Can someone give me a quick general breakdown of the site, its purpose and its underlying community codes (like the implicit DONTs that every community has)
    - Explain to me how I get a map I made on Forge World in Reach to be seen or featured/shared on this site.
    - Give me or redirect me to some tips on how to balance a map AND/OR tips to get people to test your map.
    - Point me in the direction I need to go for forging specific questions like where I go to get my respawning questions answered.
    - Basically acquaint me with the site.

I am generally not this reliant on others and i try to be self supportive but I thought this seemed like a friendly community and would prefer me to learn from the start instead of getting annoyed by my trial and error.

I can post a link to my fileshare on bungie.net (I think...?) with my map to show my commitment to Forge and that I am not trying to waste time.

    Added after 3 Hours:

bump, I could really use some assistance...

Hey man hows it going. I just noticed this thread because I was trying to look for my map preview. It appears everything you post on this forum gets pushed down within 2 hours.

    Don't:
    - Bump
    - Abuse people, especially moderators/admins/colored members
    - Spam eg useless threads
    - When commenting on maps make constructive critisism, not 'Cool map, downloading now' sort of comments

    To get a map seen:
    1. Make it
    2. Post a teaser towards the end of building it
    3. Finish building and test it
    4. Post a preview in the forge discussion section
    5 More testing
    6. Admire it a bit
    7. More testing (maybe even submit it to the Testers Guild)
    8. Submit it to reach custom content section
(this is how I've been doing it)

    Testers Guild
    Review Hub
    Customs Lobby

At the moment the only stickied forging guide is this Required Forge Objects guide. It tells you all about how to get your map working with different gametypes. There may be a Forging 101 and 201 section eventually when more guides are written.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask me or anyone else any more questions you may have.
    Cya round.

thanks man that does help. I didnt know about the teaser or preview thing, I just went straight to the competitive map section, might explain why no body is commenting or anything.

Tomorrow I shall post it in the preview/test section cuz I need to test it on a larger than 2v2 scale lol

OH MY GOD! Someone who actually cares about the community norms? It's a miracle!

Okay, the Forgehub Welcome Squad can help you out, or you can message me whenever you feel necessary--see below in my sig--or chat in the LOLbox for advice. I'd just like to say that this thread is in the wrong section, it should be in Introductions. A basic guide to selecting the right forum is: Is this about halo? if no odn't post in the halo specific sections.

    Added after 11 minutes:
Okay, I'll cover this in-depth. What is written in red is my edits, naturally.
    Added after 6 minutes:

More additions, mostly in the "don'ts" section.

On the guides, just check out maps, learn what works and what doesn't and ask people for help.

You guys forgot to add that he make sure to follow the posting guidelines for a map.
It is advised to have a well constructed post, with pictures and a good explanation of the map,
weapon list with spawn times, weapon spawn locations, etc.
Having a good post is another way to have a map get more attention.
