Rat Race: By Wrile Jarom YouTube - Halo: Reach- Rat Race This is a very close remake of the Halo 1 classic map. It has a slight change around the active camo area as well as a tight tunnel leading to it. I wish I could have tuned it to make it more open and vast, but the way I built everything into itself, it overall messed up a majority of the map with such a small change. I'm sure you will enjoy it regardless, if you've played the first one. Watch the video if you haven't. It delivers great insight! I also prefer playing 2-Flag CTF on this map. It's really fun going toe to toe so close to the enemy team and having to capture their flag at the same time! (Also, the original map calls for a max of 6 players, but 8 is still do-able!) I'm seriously impressed. It's not every day that you see a Rat Race remake. I've even remade it, but mine gets blown away by this one, both the Halo 3 and Halo: Reach versions. Well done. Rat Race is one of my favorite maps ever. This is a definite download for me. Hopefully one day after I get the other game types set up, you could try mine.

Although the original was never one of my favorite maps when I played Halo PC, it nonetheless brings me back. Great remake; don't fret over the upper hallway. It doesn't have to be made of rocks to play just like the original did. +1 DL for sure. Also, I can't help but wonder if the powerups could be set to normal physics and, if they could, if that would make them drop to the lower level when grenades exploded near them. That would really be the icing on the cake.
one thing i will say is Halo Reach's grenades are very strong. maybe there should be a little less? i know you tried to make it exactly like Halo 1 but maybe a downgrade in grenades is in order? from a balancing perspective.. otherwise, great map. fantastic vid!
I sincerely hope this isn't considered spam. I've been watching this thread and have waited until it has seen many replies and downloads before updating this thread. I appreciate the comments and I'll look into the physics for the power-ups as well as looking into decreasing grenades. If you feel you need to modify those yourself, please do. I think another update to this map by me would just reset my downloads back to 0 and I'm not too fond of that due to the map being complete. Also take note that since the video was made, I exchanged the plasma rifle out for a plasma repeater. The plasma rifle fails in Reach compared to the Halo 1 plasma rifle. This gameplay change makes the gun I placed have more worth. I also fixed an open ledge you may have seen in the Grenade Launcher room. You can no longer jet-pack up there and hide. Fun for Reach? Yes. But trying for true to original map? No. I'm sure you can see why I fixed it. Thanks for the downloads! I really can't see them being considered strong when when you look at halo 1's grenades but it is strange to have groups of 4 grenades when you can only carry 2. Good remake though.
Nice map but just a suggestion, I would change the Plasma Rifle to a Plasma Repeater as Bungie has said that the Plasma Rifle has been nerfed and the Plasma Repeater has taken its place, the same reason why you don't see any Plasma Rifles on Matchmaking only Plasma Repeaters. It's a small change but will add to the overall balance of the map.
