Here is my second Halo Reach Rollercoaster, 'Round The Mountain. It is a military base on an island, with a massive rollercoaster going around the mountain in the middle. It is a series of turns and hills, is long, faced paced, and if I do say so myself... sexy! I also added a cave and a jeti. " We'll be coming 'round the mountain when we race!" 'Round The Mountain Sideview Jedi "Green" start turn, and "bridge" ending Cave and sky start Overhead View Whole Map
oh my goodness, that is one of the coolest race reach maps i have seen yet. amazing work, i have it queued for download and i cant wait to check it out.
Looks really cool from far away. Although when you look closer it seems a little bumpy. To make it better you should merge the blocks together to have smoother turns and make it less possible to fall off. I know you are going for a rollercoaster but i think a regular racemap with kind of design would look a lot better. Not bad ill give you a 7/10

he was going for a rollercoaster. he wouldnt be able to pull off the same difficulty/length with a double wide track or smoother blocks this racemap looks really fun. how long is the lap?

The picture seems atleast very cool indeed and foremost a military base with a rollercoaster lol? Who wouldn't want that. Absolute DL and gtg and try it out. EDIT: After playing it I got to say that it was cool indeed but bumpy (well that's cause it's "rollercoaster") but it was little frustrating when the route is so narrow and if you fell from there because of little mistake, it was pain in the ass to start it from all over D
I gave this one a try with three friends. It could use a little bit of work. I have a few major complaints. The first is the issue of failure. When you fall off, you have to try and find a way back onto the track. Generally, this is done by walking around the island until you find a spot to jump over the railing. This is unfortunate, and can easily be fixed by implementing a kill volume on the ground so that people automatically die and are sent back to their last checkpoint. Second, if you fail to achieve your first checkpoint and manage to die (not all that hard to do on this map), you respawn in a random location. For instance, I respawned twice in the hangar, once on the spire, and again in a random location on the island. I would assume you failed to place respawn points. Finally, the map is a little edgy, almost sloppy. I understand its a roller coaster, but there were pretty large cracks in some places. Not a huge complaint, in comparison with the others.
Hahah the first thought that came to mind when I saw this map was Yoyorast Island from Halo 1 CE hahah. Good job on making a super lengthy race map, but now that you've got the track laid out, try to make it a bit neater Good Job!
I'm completely with Ursus on this one. It's definitely an awesome map, but having to travel all the way around the island is a pain. One that could be easily fixed by a Kill boundary on the ground beneath the higher areas of the track. There are also a few places where the track gets so broken up that it kinda ruins the flow, even for a rollercoaster ride. But even so, great job. For the most part, I had fun.
Thank you very much, I agree that this map is not perfect, for it is an early reach map. I appreaciate the constructive criticism and the polite manner in which you presented that. I did realize that respawn point weren't "necessary" for the race gametype, but I now realize it is probably a good idea, if the first checkpoint isn't directly at the start. The blocks don't smoothly fit together The color sphere is annoying on the eyes and sometimes I cannot see the track Checkpoint 6 spawns me sitting halfway off the side so every time I respawn I fall off.
Yes do you know why that is? Is there anyway to get photobucket without having to pay for it? If anyone knows please let me know so I can re-do the pictures. I apologize though.
Really nice map layout. One thing I'd recommend is adding kill zones on the island base. Falling off can be a pain if you need to go to the water to kill yourself each time. Also, some of the checkpoints on uneven ground are a little bit tricky to get a good spawn on. However, those are small issues, in my mind at least, and the map layout is great. Fix the small issues and this map will be even better!
Thank you VitricTyro, I didn't understand the concept, when I made this, that if you feel off you respawned on the map. And I didnt add the kill area because I was going to add one huge one, but realized I had some terrain so it would kill you on that part, and I was too lazy to add many. Thank you though, I do realize those errors.
This looks very chaotic in a good way. I really like how much of a "crazy ride" the player seems to go through on this course. The fact that you also seemed to use up all the space on the island is also a nice touch. Definite download from me. Good job!
