Campaign Matchmaking Details Revealed

    The details on Campaign Matchmaking have been revealed on Bungie.net.

    I'm a bit unsure about the difficulty voting thing. Well. at least there's no Easy. IMO, there should be a seperate playlist for each difficulty.

    What are your opinions on Campaign Matchmaking?

    So... does that mean that they're gonna have two votes? One for the difficulty level and the other for the level?

    I played the entire campaign on Legendary Co-op after beating it solo and it didn't seem to get significantly more difficult.

    I'm actually quite surprised that they have Normal difficulty... and that there's a choice in difficulty. Hopefully this means they'll have Legendary Firefight as well...

    I'm hoping for separate voting, I doubt that will be it though. It'll either be "Nightfall on Normal," "Nightfall on Heroic," "Nightfall on Legendary," | or three different missions on three different difficulties... I wonder if it will be the full level or if they will be Rally Points... Because I doubt people will want to stay through the entire mission all the time.

    Yeah, I plan on staying away from campaing matchmaking, because people will quit, but the difficulty increase from having 4 players will remain, making the level very difficult to complete, although I might do it to get my assists commendations.

    I hope that I'll get a good amount of credits from this. I love playing campaign, but only get a few hundred from playing for a while. Might be nice to get a little something extra.

    I really wish it'd have separate playlists for separate difficulties (I suck at Legendary in ODST with a friend, and ODST didn't make it harder with more players, but now I'll have to play with four people on Legendary with a possibility of skulls? AHHHHHH), but I guess I'm not forced to play it, just as I'm not forced to play Firefight (I lag in matchmaking firefight, but not in 4 player custom firefight, where I have my special 'I'm invincible' gametype so there's a lot of explosions which makes the game lag offline? WHY DO I LAG IN MATCHMAKING FIREFIGHT?!).

    I bet the Credits system will work like it does in Firefight Matchmaking, like 5 cR for killing a grunt, 10 or so for killing an elite, etc.

    I don't like the campaign matchmaking, I would prefer to have it like Gears of War had it. Where you picked the level and difficulty you wanted and you started it up and had someone join you shortly after. Also you could search for co-op games which showed the level and difficulty. Why Bungie didn't go with this instead of the way they have it now is beyond me. Personally Gears of War has had the best co-op online. Borderlands is another good game for co-op online considering you host a game where you are and people can see what play through you are on and what mission you are doing. Why does Bungie have to be different and add voting to co-op.

    I guess for getting my assist commendations I will have to play with my friend at my house.

    To clear up the reason for lag in online Campaign and Firefight is that they use a different system to Matchmaking. Matchmaking has a host which everyone sends their data to and the host sends all the information to the players. A centralised system, if you will.
    Firfeight and Campaign use a system where every player involved sends information to every other player in the game, thus increasing the load on each individual player's connection. This is done so everyone advances at the same pace, step by step.

    I think it will be the way firefight voting is now.
    First round: legendary, heroic, and normal difficulties on the same level
    Second round (none of the above): legendary, heroic, and normal on a different level
    That way there are options for each difficulty and for two different levels. IMO they should have made separate playlists instead, but bungie has their reasons.
