I've mostly been lurking here a little while but I think that my first map attempt, Siege, is ready for a look and perhaps some testing. I've set the map up for Territories as well as One flag CTF and One bomb Assault. The defending team spawns and respawns inside the fortress pictured above. There are good positions for marksmen in the sniper towers or along the walls, which offer plenty of cover from incoming fire. At the base of the wall, near the gate can be found closer quarters weapons that can be used to help repel any attackers who try to enter on foot. Along the wall can be found a generous assortment of power weapons (two Spartan Lasers and a Rocket Launcher) That's because... the attackers start with a generous assortment of vehicles. There's a Scorpion to provide the big gun, a Revenant to provide mobile artillery support, two Warthogs (one with the chain gun, the other with the Gauss turret), a Ghost and two Mongooses. The Scorpion will fit through the gate and can be driven at least into the main courtyard of the fortress. The defending team starts behind a rocky wall, providing cover from the best vantage points the fortress can provide. (I couldn't find anyplace where the spawns were visible, but I'm not the best sniper in the world.) Roughly between the two is a defensive bunker. The defenders can use that to mount a forward defense - but I think that the defenders have a fair chance of beating them there with the vehicles. This is where the map's lone sniper rifle can be found so that the defenders can't dominate the vehicles too badly from range without a little effort. This is my first forging that's gotten to the point of adding spawns, weapons and compatibility with game types. The map is in my fileshare - gamertag: jovial1 Let me know what you think.
add some cover for the offensive team member who decide they want to walk or ride out on the mongoose without backup edit: i haven't downloaded it so i may be wrong you may have plenty of cover
My main thoughts along those lines were the cave systems and paths along the edge of the map. I've tried to add a little more cover to those (though I don't know if it's 'enough') as well as providing some cover at the cave mouths facing the fortress and bunker for offensive marksmen. I tried to avoid putting too much in the center of the map, though, to provide as much vehicle mobility as I could.
