I'm curious to know what any of you think about this, but I feel implementing the option to choose between a few skins for the basic building structure pieces in Forge would be possibly the best update for the mode at this point. Yes, adding more structural parts would be nice, or lighting/color effects, but having different skins would give some new dimensions to work with in general. And I'm already noticing we've got a lot of maps being made that really just look and feel the same, since it's all constantly using the same texture.

Some new skins like a wooden skin (some of the buildings towards the beginning of Campaign?), or a Covenant ship skin, for examples!

Well, just an idea and opinion, you may discuss.

Sorry for being concise; the keyboard on my iphone is a pain to type on.
Now that I am on an actual computer:
Each texture takes up space, and even a simple color change like the colors you can change on some pieces to be team specific requires significant processing. In DLC the textures are even more limited because loading it cannot just be shipped on the disc. Notice that on sandbox in H3 all the textures were the same, and the ground was just a texture repeated across the entire map, while isolation had different textures everywhere. This also relates to the size of the map; because a large map takes more time to load for each game, the textures need to be especially limited. If Bungie could just throw around textures at will, the rock pieces for Forge World might have a different texture from the landscape, or the pieces might be composed of more than a few mixed textures.
No matter how great Bungie makes their final game, people will find something to ***** about.

Anyone else with maybe a more welcoming and creative thought?

This is all hypothetical anyway. But who is to say, being the possibly last Halo game, they won't be planning some crazy ideas?

There is no way they can add this to the already existing forge world.
It would require everyone who wants these new textures to re download forgeworld.... which is a huge file.

Obviously we could be getting another SMALLER sized forge themed map with a different theme of objects, but in no way will Bungie ever update forgeworld.

I would imagine it being a DLC package in itself, at which point maybe would seem unfavorable for people, but the ones who truly wanted to utilize all of Forge would buy it.

That's an idea though, making a different skin exclusive for a different map.

As unhelpful as Pyro came off, I believe he may be right.

I also agree with you, in that forged maps are lacking in aesthetic variety.
However, this problem is nothing new. Forge canvas maps introduced to H3 quickly made gamers bored of the drab industrial greens and chalky sandstone browns that came with the greatest gifts to the forging community. At least there are easier ways to make maps look good with clever object manipulation. But yes, everyone is already starting to memorize the shapes and colors of the greatest Forge canvas yet.

    But don't fret!

I believe it's been confirmed somewhere that a new Forge World is in the works and is scheduled to hitch a ride the first Reach map pack. If there's one thing Bungie is notorious for, it's surprising their gamers with mega-awesome stuff, for lack of a better term. I'd look forward to whatever you do not entirely expect, knowing that at least it will be a welcome visual change (Forge City rumors omg!). A problem I have with with Forge World is that I can't seem to find large objects heavily dominated by their colors I could use to indicate separate territories (I'm frequently a split-screen gamer, where lights don't color things), which I believe you may have silently considered yourself. Hopefully there are ways to remedy these tedious yet minor problems in the future.

They can't edit forge world. If they did we would have two forge worlds, the normal one and the exact same one with different textures, or objects. I am a forging addict but i wouldn't pay just to re download forgeworld with new objects.

Of course they can much more easily bring out a dlc pack, including maybe 2 maps and something similar to sandbox.

I was hoping for someone to bring this point up, the thing is bungie scared the crap out of us with all those map packs, and they dont often let us down. it's a matter of time before bungie grabs the cash with a new map pack. my only awkward point is this idea may not get recognised by bungie in time for it. perhaps a new sandbox will make the community what it used to be. or will it just give people more to ***** about. Bungie have many decisions to make. however I am definately all for the idea. but certainly not another forge world. perhaps a sand world. with many other location designs rather than an interior an island and pocket and such.
