so while having conversations in the chatbox about mixing gametypes, i had the idea for an infection game where the humans have to achieve a certain objective to win. the specific example/analogy that i had for this was a small group of humans vs. a horde of zombies. the humans are based in a city where they have to plant a bomb in the center of the zombie horde under the city. though this is just a theory, it would be cool if we could have something like this in reach. there will probably be some ingenious way to do something like this so i am going to keep trying. another way that something like this could work is if there is a safe room that has a closing door for the entrance. the humans would have to get to the safe room before a certain amount of time has elapsed and after that certain amount of time has come, a series of explosions would occur killing everyone who is not in the safe room. since the maximum time allowed for an object is 180 seconds (one fusion coil that would trigger the rest) the better solution would be to have some sort of timed mechanism to activate the chain reaction of explosives. if this theory comes to fruition, i will most likely be posting a preview soon. please write some feedback on this theory and how well you think it will work.
As far as the saferoom is concerned, you could just put safehavens in the room that gives invisibility and have something spawn to close the door. Having objectives with infection would be awesome though, and allow for so many cool maps.
see, that would defeat the purpose of the ingenuity of this idea. having a safe haven would make it available at all times so i'm just gonna stick with not having safe havens incorporated into the map. i kinda like the timer. i was thinking of more of a timer run by a golfball so you can physically see when the timer is up.
Invasion. Humans and zombies would have the same settings. Saferooms could be objectives 1 and 2. While bombing the street is part three. If you want slow zombies; Set players to be slow, with 'human' players having only one loadout which has sprint. They could sprint forever or limited, short sprints depending on what you want. The 3 tiers could all be the same loadouts, with Elites just using default settings. (No AA, E-Sword, ect.) As an honor rule, a human who is killed has to switch teams and become a zombie, H2 style.
that would be nice but somehow seems impossible. maybe in the next halo game, the mixing of up to two gametypes would be allowed. i am uncertain of the type of game that 343 is planning so we will just have to wait and see.
because having different sections would not really work or be really hard to make. i'm only talking about having ONE objective. either blowing up a bomb in the middle of the zombie horde or reaching a destination, i.e. the saferoom. more than one objective would be too difficult.
Atik's idea should work fine- don't discount it just because it's not an INFECTION gametype. Have the blue team be zombies (custom invasion gametype should let you customize the zombies to your hearts content) and you'll have Elite zombies hanging around the city. Reaching Safe Room 1 is phase 1 (doors close when you get there, either teleport out or have a one way shield exit), Reaching Safe Room 2 is phase 2. In Phase 2 room, have a bomb to be picked up to be detonated for the win.
Meh, suit yourself. Maybe I'll make the map myself later on. I honestly don't see how three phases would break the feel. Invasions games can be very fast paced if done right.
i'm not discounting it, just stating that it would be very difficult to make. if he wants to make it that's fine with me, but i don't really plan on it. as for the second option i do however plan on making that.
There isn't a next halo game... Anyway my idea would be that the humans are in a room with lots of entrances for the extremely strong zombies. They must work to block off the room using crates/ switches if they want to stand any hope at surviving. Wow, now I want to make that. Just pay no attention to what I just said unless you REALLY want to do it.
You're the one who came up with this idea, you wanted to make this map. It's been explained how, very simply and within the bounds of Reach Forge. It's not any more difficult than making the map in the first place. Sometimes making a map involves work.
Too difficult? Why would you come asking for a map idea if you don't want to work? It isn't difficult at all. Invasion gates can shut the doors of the safe rooms and one-way shields can pop you outside. I'm thinking of this like combining L4D with the first level of Resident Evil: Outbreak. One of the coolest moments was when you blew up the street and watched zombies get thrown around like ragdolls while on fire. Hell, if you don't want people to have to follow honor rules, the Safe rooms can be 'Checkpoint' where respawn zones appear in the after each phase. Just understand, what you want isn't possible. Infection is losing steam and I doubt 343 will invest much into it. The closest you can do is have the map end with a safe-Haven for your "Safe Room" Which you camp until the timer runs out. Don't make humans immortal in the SH, just tougher than normal and maybe infinate ammo. Have the door stay open and make the timer relatively long. You seem to just be really picky, no offense.
i think this is a simple misunderstanding. what i am seeing about your point of view is an infection map with more than one objective (closer to invasion than a simple objective game). if i am wrong about this, please correct me.
If you wanted to do assault for the final part of the mission, i would suggest using territories for the first two objectives, you could turn the time required to instant, so the territory functions as a check point for the humans. As for stat differentiation, make the "zombies" spawn on top of a custom power up, then take a teleporter to their regular spawn areas, you could have the teleporters spawn as the humans switch phases so you really don't lose any control over spawn at all. By using the custom power up you could give the zombies any traits you want, for 90 seconds, and unless you are doing something very unique, no defender is going to wait around for 90 seconds just to get human traits, hope that helped.
Okay, so I'm really bad at cities. But here is a gametype I thought of; Resident 4 Invasion; Bungie.net : Halo Reach : File Details L Yar I'll make a test map, but meh.
