Ok, so I just finished a race map and I really didn't know how to set up the gametype race, so I observed some other maps and went into forge and put in the spawns and the hill marker. I honestly don't know what to do next. All of the other maps that I looked at, I just saw the spawns and the hill marker for the finish. Can someone please explain what I didn't do. Every time I go to custom games, it says the map doesn't go with the game variant. BTW, I would look on youtube, but I have a slow computer and it is hard to watch films on here.

First, make sure you are in race and not basic editing. (Change the gametype in the forge lobby). Then, place the flag stand/hill marker/whatever, and change the label in advanced settings to "race_flag". Change the spawn sequence to whichever checkpoint you want it to be.

Ok I already have the lobby set and everything, I knew that. Thanks. But I kinda of understand then again I don't understand what the flag stand has to do with any of this. But I think I get it.

The flag stand is just an object piece. Unlike in Halo 3, the object pieces are not exclusive to one gametype. Any object can have its label changed to become the objective, Bungie just gave us three objects that are categorized for that purpose.

Or you could just use a hill marker. You need to go to the Advanced Menu and set it to Game Specific: True
and Object Description as: "race_flag" as described in this thread.

Don't forget to change the size of the cylinder/box to be as you desire the checkpoint to be. Setting the Spawn Sequence is also important.

Thanks, I have the spawn thing worked out and the hill marker, I didn't know I was supposed to set it as flag race.
