Here's my first real map for Reach (Made another one, but didn't spend much time on it). I designed this with CTF in mind, but I think, if I was to set it up correctly, KoTH, Stockpile, and Headhunter could be fun as well. Currently, it's set up for Slayer, Team Slayer, CTF, and KoTH (although I don't know how thoroughly set up KoTH is). It's completely symmetrical, as the pictures show. General Overview Closer View of Middle Overview of the Top of the Base View of Bottom Overview of Middle Platform Weapons: 8 DMRs (I think) 2 Needler Rifles - Middle platform 2 Needlers - Middle platform 2 Pulse Rifles - Out front of caves 2 Magnums - One on each walkway heading to dish 2 Plasma Pistols - Same area as Magnums 2 Snipers - Next to ramps on bases 2 Shotguns - In caves between base and middle platform 1 Concussive Rifle (1 spare slip) - Middle platform 1 Sword - In mid 1 Grenade launcher (4 spare shots) - On dish Also a smattering of grenades. I believe about 6 or 8 of each. 5 health packs or so. Some notes: -Two way teleporter on dish and middle platform. -It is possible to jump from the dish down to the middle area, but cannot jump back up without jetpack. -Man cannons on middle platform will send you onto the corresponding base. Possible tweaks: -More cover below and/or on bases -Remove weapons/lower spare clips? -More aesthetics -Configure for other gametypes -Spawns? If you look at Bungie's maps, I think you'll see you've got a LOT more weapons than needed. You've also got a ton of grenades. Even Blood Gulch only has 2 grenades of each type on each side (so 4 of each total). My advice would be to go to a map of Bungie's you want to emulate the feel of, and write down how many of each weapon you find. You'll tweak the exact weapons later, but that's a really good place to start. Also, you might find a mancannon INTO a base to be a little overpowered.
I thought it might be a little overpowered, hence why I wanted some playtesting. And you don't go into the base, you hit the pillar and land outside of it. I'll definitely check the weaponry and grenades, but once again, I'd like some playtesting first.
This looks pretty good. I'll try out tomorrow. I like your dish structure built off of the cliff side. Only thing I don't like from the pictures is that the bottoms of the bases seem kinda empty and dull. A couple walls or half walls may help. Or at least some crates or something for decoration.
