Like honestly is there any word on if/when this is getting fixed because I am about to trade this stupid game in because of this. People are not quick to boot on betrayal, they boot no matter what. I mean like honestly I just got booted the last round of a firefight mode because some idiot walked into a firestrike zone that I called on a ship. So the idiot was sitting under a drop ship at wave 5 (going to die anyway from the 5+ hunter/elites/brutes that where coming but no the firestrike kill him so I get booted of course. This after 5 rounds of good play. It is so annoying. I can't believe they thought one random kill deserves to have you booted. I mean gernades, fire strikes, fuel rod cannons, rockets, you might as well not even use them cause your going to get booted. I've been booted as the top player in matchmaking (slayer) a number of times too. It's just ridiculous.
Yeah. I get booted for one accidental betrayal, but I can get purposely betrayed and not allowed to boot.
Quoted From BWU 9/17/2010 Besides, what your talking about is an issue with people, not the game. I feel you pain though. People need to learn discretion. What was the context of the kill? Where you in a small confined area? Where they surrounded with grenades and you got unlucky? Unfortunately, the people don't care about context. They just know they "unrightfully died" (even when they were screwed anyway) and want to get you out of there. They don't care if it was truly an accident or if they're gonna be down a guy and loose. The want to get the "ass" out of the game that killed a teammate. Though, with the current system as it has been described, it really does punish the "honest" players by stacking up game after game after game of teammate damage so by the time they do betray someone, they have all that damage that says "hey, you're hurting your teammates already, you should be booted." Unfortunately, I don't see any other way to do it. Anything that helps the honest people, keeps the morons in games longer. There really isn't much they can do. Maybe they could access your "betrayal history" (if there is such a thing) and see if you betray alot. I don't know. Hopefully whatever update Bungie put out makes the whole thing not so transparent.
Yeah, definitely a problem with the people, and sometimes the game. My first betrayal annoyance was when it was invasion on the spire, and I threw a sticky up the lift, and accidentally betrayed a teammate like 2 minutes later and got booted. Second and third were during the Target indicator challenge day (Bungie should NEVER do this again) where one game, I picked up the indicator, and BLAM! get smacked by a rocket, and it doesn't let me boot the guy (my theory is I think he was playing split screen, so the betrayal boot damage minimum might be doubled). Another was when I get the locator, and a guy runs right under my killionare (I'm assuming just so that he could boot me and have a chance at getting the locator)
Ya this boot thing really is annoying. Playing infection on reflection. I am the top player with 9 kills in the third round. This zombie jumps me and swings it's sword and I shot my shotty. We die at the same time but I get a betrayal instead of a kill. A few seconds later, I'm kicked. Can we just get rid of friendly fire? So what if it makes us watch our fire but it isn't as worse as the situations we posted
I played some Rocketfight on Holdout. There was a hunter that killed me, so I cycled through the respawn points and found the one outside with a straight view of the hunter. I took aim at the hunter as soon as I respawned and I happened to respawn at the exact same time as another player. He ran right in front of me and we both died. He then booted me. Definitely annoying as hell that he wasn't forgiving, but meh... it happens and it's only been my first time and only time booted thus far. I've accidentally killed many players on Rocketfight... mostly due to their idiocy. Fortunately only been booted once... and I've only booted someone once, myself. I was playing sniperfight on Beachhead. I was standing on that ledge above the bunker with an overview of the entire map and a guy shot a plasma launcher at me. There is absolutely no way it was by mistake. I'm on the edge of the map and no enemies ever go on that ledge... so I booted him. I played Rocketfight on Corvette and had an idiot standing right where the Coveys jumped off from the dropships. I swear some kids are friggin idiots and should be removed from being able to ever play. I immediately give bad player reviews to anyone that plays like jackasses or quits...
If I ever get mad at somebody in Firefight, they usually have the Target Locator and fire it somewhere. I will run over to it, they will betray me, and then they will get booted. I did it sooooo much during that get 20 kills with the Target Locator daily challenge.
steps to getting booted: 1 Steal enemy wraith in Boneyard, while your team is about to lose the core. 2 Fire an epic shot from across boneyard that kills the core carrier, two enemies nearby, and regrettably one ally who already had no shields. 3 Booted Another possible method: 1 See your friend's wraith get boarded. 2 Fire a banshee bomb (no time to switch weapons) that directly hits the boarder 3 The wraith's gunner dies courtesy of high damage from the boarder and collateral damage from your banshee bomb shot. 4 Booted
My advice- watch out for idiots, if you don't want to get booted. though its bound to happen sometimes.
Yes it is the people that decide to make it annoying. But the GAME could easily be fixed. Quite simply 3 votes to be betrayed by anyone in the game. Thats all. If you betray 3 times your gone. They don't even have to really make it a vote if they dont want too. But being able to be booted after one is ridiculous.
I think that grenades, and splash damage weapons should be very indirect when deciding whether or not they get the opportunity to boot or not
What's the point of booting? I mean seriously, I RARELY feel the need to boot other people, even if they kill me then teabag and/or take my weapon(s). If anything, I find it more enjoyable to seek revenge by killing them back and teabagging their face for a solid minute or two. It's really a lot more satisfying than booting them and never hearing from them again. Of course, there's the betrayal negative points that come into play... so why not remove that as well? OR just remove friendly fire altogether! OR just do an automatic 3 betrayals system where you don't even have the choice to boot or not... the player is just automatically booted for having betrayed 3 times... then increase the number for longer games like firefight. I wish I worked at Bungie.. i'd be so helpful.
The three betrayal auto boot is in CoD:WaW, and it gets kind of annoying. Maybe have three betrayals and THEN you get the option. And Friendly fire does have some points, no matter how slight. Like, if you're playing CTF, and you grab the flag and get a teammate to either push you to the base, or jet into you with a ghost and launch you across the map. Unrealistic, but people always find something to complain about.
When ever I get boarded in a wraith i'll ram the nearest wall and shoot. this kills the person and stops me being killed in the process. One time, that didn't work too well. rammed the wall, got hit by a ROCKET then shot. Killed the guy, but also managed to kill myself (suicide D and two teammates. betrayal betrayal. Did i get booted?...nope. Reach must love me or something.
