I'm unfamiliar with Terrabytes, as this is the first time I've ever had/seen a drive with that much space. I got a 2TB drive (external). I anticipated few hundred gig of bad sectors, so when I saw "1.81TB" I wasn't surprised or disappointed or anything, but then I clicked "properties".

If you're wondering about the FAT32, I had to do that; work wants me to compile in .app. (Sadness)

But if you notice the difference, how does a capacity of 1,947 gigs translate to 1.81TB?

    1 Byte = 8 Bit
    1 Kilobyte = 1024 Bytes
    1 Megabyte = 1048576 Bytes
    1 Gigabyte = 1073741824 Bytes

    Therefore - 999451127808 = 1862.13397 GB = 1.87 TB

Yes, so why is Windows explorer telling me the space remaining (which is greater than what you just stated is 1.87TB) is the equivalent of 1.72TB?

EDIT: Wait I just noticed the used space says 98gig, but the abbreviation says 94gig. What the hell...

I give up, back to Ubuntu..

If you would have actually LOOKED at B3NW's size table, One Gigabyte is NOT 1,000,000,000 Bytes, therefore the "Free and Used Space" will normally be higher than the Abbreviation.

This is the exact same on all of your Hard Drives. It may not be AS far off, because when dealing with Terabytes, there are much more digits to worry about, but it is still there.

I did look at his table, cool down. It's just that I need exact measurement; Windows will not suffice.

Each is about 4gigs off; I can't live with a four gig inaccurate measurement. I'm not asking for a fix, because like I said I just went back to Ubuntu.
