Prisoner loose remake

    Hello all.

    This is a loose remake of the Halo CE map Prisoner. With all respect to BraveDave and his excellent remake I've decided to go down a different road and cut down on the detail. This has kept it well in budget, but it's not the best looking map around.

    Any comments and constructive criticism is welcome.

    I got around the problem of the ladders by using one way teleporters, although I'm thinking of changing them over to two way ones (well you can go up and down ladders!) and I've added a couple of new rooms at ground level, which helps with the spawns.

    At the moment it's only set up for team slayer, but if anyone wants to help with testing for other gametypes then just send me a friend request.

    Why teleporters instead of grav lifts?

    I just can't seem to get them working like I want to. The lift seems too powerful and the one way shield causes the player too bounce around. I would prefer to do it that way but the teleporters seemed like a good compromise.

    Do you know were I can get a hold of BraveDave's Prison remake? Is yours available as well?

    I think BraveDave version is still being built and thus is not available yet.

    I haven't made mine available yet as I've just done a load of tidying up to the walls. I'm still working on the spawnpoints and weapon placements for various gametypes. I'm new to forge and learning on the fly, but I'm going to push it this weekend on it should be on my fileshare by Monday.

    This is a very impressive remake. I only wish I didn't screw my budget up by making those slanted walls :(. I am looking forward to playing this map especially with jet packs! My only concern is that each level looks very short.
    And Pipkinn I was unable to finish the map unfortunately but I have given it to a good friend of mine who will finish it (but he is not as concerned with making the map an exact remake). Im glad someone was excited about my map, but you will be one of the first to know once the map is complete :)

    Thanks to everyone for their kind words, especially BraveDave. It's a shame you couldn't keep it in budget and I hope you're next map is just as good looking.

    @pipkinn & LDog - Thanks for wanting to help me playtest. It should be ready for a playtest tonight, but it depends on how much the other half wants me to be a family man today. Anyway it's now set up for slayer and headhunter (took two hours last night to figure how to set up headhunter. You need two collection points, Doh!) So I've only got King Of The Hill and Oddball to do.

    Map ready, Playtesters required.

    Ok my map is now ready. All I need is some people willing to give me a bit of their time to playtest it with me. I'll be on at 21.00 hours (9pm) GMT so if you want to help me refine it then send me a friend request to Mekquake Ver 1. Thanks in advance.

    You can sink the gravity lifts into the geometry to lessen there power, or even stack one way shield doors in a means that slows the player down as they travel upwards. I say toy with it, teleporters are rather disorienting.

    @Vicious - I understand what you mean about the gravlifts and I've seen them in action done both well and poorly. I just feel my solution gives the map a cleaner look and if you know the map then you know where the teleporters go.

    @Pipkinn - I should be on tonight after 9. Just got to put the little man to bed.
