MLG Leviathan

    Leviathan
    ======================================
    Leviathan is a map that I originally made in Halo 3, and have remade in Reach. The map features several changes to help improve gameplay. The original design was inspired by Colossus, featuring two bases, a central bridge connecting the bases, and a low bottom mid.
    Leviathan supports Slayer, Flag, and Hill. Be warned however, Hill is currently broken in Reach so there is no way to set the hills to a specific order. So if you are playing, then the hills will appear in a random order.

    I really appreciate the support guys. MLG maps rarely get the attention that other map categories do (such as mini games, race tracks, and competitive), so I don't plan on this being the first feature. However, I really hope it will be, and I am happy that others want it to be.

    To set up the hill order you have to make the markers and give them a sequence setting. Under Object Settings -> Advanced -> Spawn Sequence.


    The hill sequence in any map is better off at random anyways. Having sequential hills makes it to easy to set up on the map.

    Two problems with that.

    One, I know that setting up the order is "supposed" to work, but it doesn't. I, as well as many other forgers, have tried everything, and there is simply no way to make them go in a sequential order.

    Two, in order to make as competitive of a map as possible (AKA MLG), the hills should travel in a specific order to eliminate randomness from the game.

    Thanks for trying to help though. My post may come off as cold, but it is not intended to be mean/malicious.

    Haven't played customs on it yet but ran around on it last night and the maps looks awesome. Great subtle changes in height and just the right distance between flags to give a team time to stop the carrier. Great work.

    Played 2V2 on this. It plays really well. You did a great job.

    Things that bother me about the map: (take as constructive criticism)
    It reminds me of every MLG map that was built in the crypt on sandbox.
    The layout feels very similar to many maps i have played. I feel like there is nothing original about the layout at all.
    Also, it is aesthetically boring. I'm not sure how much budget you have left, but i feel like you could spice it up a bit with some aesthetic flair.

    Good job though still, it played well for 2V2 and i imagine it will play well in other gametypes. Definitely keeping this one on the hard drive for a while.

    Wow this looks awesome, I really like the architecture. The whole design of the map reminds me of something from Halo 1/2. Also the download button at the bottom of your post doesn't work, it's got a tag in it.

    I got a chance to run through Leviathan with some friends last night, just a quick game. Architecturally, the map is designed well, the geometry doesn't stray to far from each other and the theme is kept throughout the entire map. Although I spotted some indifference's in the geometry, these minor flaws are not worth mentioning, because this is forge and not a complete map editor.

    I'd really like to see some more MLG presence in ForgeHub's MLG section, because I do enjoy MLG and competitive maps more than the rest of the crowd. I guess it's why I tend to make my maps competitive, rather than casual. Also, I pulled up statistic from the Halo 3 Map forums from a fellow staff member. I'd really like to see a change in the stats in Reach, but it's really up to the MLG folk to make it happen. Giving us more posts and more maps to choose from, really opens up the doors to get an MLG map featured. With less to choose from, I don't really see many MLG maps being featured.

    Yeah, I completely understand why MLG maps are rarely featured. The main reason there is a lack of posts has to do with 2 things though.

    1. Most people from FH don't take the time to actually look at or play MLG maps. They are either just entirely ignored, or judged by pictures. I much less often get actual feedback from people from FH than I do from people on MLGpro, and probably about 95% of the feedback I get here has to do with stuff solely in the pictures.

    2. A lot of people from MLG do not post on FH due to the fact that a large majority of FH maps are purely based off of aesthetics, with gameplay being a second thought. This is the complete opposite of how MLG forgers make their maps, and this conflict of opinions just makes people from MLG not overly tolerant of the FH community.

    Really it just comes down to both sides not really being open to the other side.

    Wow, or it is just the terrible system.

    I like your map Pulse, it plays great, there is nothing I would change about it in its current state, but apparently, expressing how much you like a map is "spam" which is cute.

    The map looks great, spawns are good, and the flow is perfect. But since any post that doesn't tell you to change something is spam. Needs moar truck.

    I've had this on my hard drive for a while now, flown around it a few times, but I've never gotten a game on it. If you're ever running customs, invite me. I'd love to play.

    This looks very similar to a level from Halo 2... Can't remember exactly which though. Nice map, architecture and map layout are great! I played a 1vs1 game with my brother. It's a bit small for that, but general gameplay felt well. Oh, and congratulations with your feature :)

    People really need to be less harsh about aesthetics, the problem isn't necessarily budget, but adding random new objects for visual appeal only makes lag worse and gameplay less fun.

    I don't remember playing this on Halo 3 but I definitely recognize the name. Either way, this looks like a really good map. Can't really pinpoint any major drawbacks since I'm basing this entirely off the pictures right now. But you definitely have my DL (along with everyone else haha).
