Cradle

    From the video game classic Goldeneye, here is my "remake" of the finale level "Antenna Cradle" which I have just called Cradle. Some portions of the map isn't the same, to stop players from being able to bottleneck other players and other areas because in N64 days you couldn't jump to them but the main flow of the map stays intact while trying to keep the Halo feel to it. Halo meets Goldeneye maybe?

    Weapon Layout
    Not gonna lie, this isn't my forte, and the map itself is huge, I can prolly remove some of those and just make doubles of others, but like I said this map is huge (Vertically).

    x1 Shotgun
    x1 Plasma Repeater
    x1 Plasma Rifle
    x1 Spartan Lazer
    x1 Conc Rifle

    I've divided the map into 4 sections

    1st - Lower Platform aka "For England James?"
    Pretty straight forward, small platform, Rocket Launcher is here. Only one way back up .. the way you came down but with a grav lift!

    2nd - The Cradle
    Four long straight platforms connect to each other, great for sniping. Added lots of cover threw as well as middle platforms that connect the two paths.

    In the middle of them are small man cannons that will launch you to the middle quickly. In the middle of it all is two (added a second) walkways that lead to a lower room which lead to the Lower Platform. Near the man cannons are the DMR and Needler Rifle. In the middle building that leads to the lower area is the Plasma Pistol, and above that is the Sniper Rifle. Since having the sniper rifle in the upper area you can easy dominate the entire match, I felt it needed to be put far away from there and you had to earn getting it up there.

    3rd - Engine Rooms
    The Cradle connects to the upper area aka the Engine rooms at the far ends. This leads to 2 rooms with engines in them. On either end is the Needler and Plasma Repeater. Inside the buildings is the 2nd DMR and Needler Rifle. I decided to add small little areas above the rooms since you can now get to them. I didn't like them being empty, it looked ugly. One side has the Sword, other has the Shotgun. These areas also allow players a chance to kill any player currently at the very top.

    In the middle between the rooms is 2 stairs (added second) to the middle platform which leads to the next area.

    4th - The Walkways.
    The middle platform has 3 ramps to the Walkways where 3 towers are located. The walkways themselves have no railings making it very dangerous to venture onto them, but from these vantage points you can pretty much see the entire map which makes players with the DMR/Needler Rifle/Sniper a giant threat. I decided to add no railings or cover because players could easily control the map from there, I wanted to add some tension for the greedyness of being up there. In each tower there is a weapon, Grenade Launcher/Conc Rifle/Spartan Lazer.


    For any tips especially on weapon placement go ahead and say it, like I said that isn't my forte but I like the x2 DMR/Needler Rifle and Rocket Location, sniper rifle has moved so many times ....

    great remake i was guna do this myself, but you've done a great job.

    anyways it would be cool to make a huge satellite underneath if you have enough budget left, use many Colosseum walls to form a dish and set a kill zone so ppl cant land on it.

    also jet pack placements would make it a very fun map.

    Really accurate and cool remake. I love the way you set everything up, really. My only problem would be having a sniper rifle on this map...just looking at those insanely long walkways and thinking of a sniper at the end is sheer misery. A competent sniper could effectively shut down half the map just because of the very long sightlines with no cover (or jetpackies). The map itself is gorgeous and well-done...don't let some sniper camper ruin it for others!

    Thanks for the awesome feedback and responses :) As for adding the Sat at the bottom, the entire level is pretty low, I started from the bottom in fear of hitting the roof, I could lift it all to add one at the bottom but that would be a lot of effort for just decoration, plus i dont know if i have the budget left to make it look good, i'm out of building blocks lol and down to about 1500 Budget left. I may though, just to make it look better.

    As for the sniper rifle, it's so much fun on this level, but ya I do agree I think I should remove it, or at least put it at the very bottom where the rockets are and put the rockets elsewhere.

    This map is a lot of fun with Shotty Snipers, especially with Jetpack lol

    It looks pretty good and I congratulate you on your completion! If you want any more Goldeneye maps, check my fileshare. I have completed the Facility and The Bunker, and Library Stacks is almost done! Keep in mind you'll have to play those with a gametype I made to make it play like an N64 shooter, but that's in my fileshare as well.

    After that, I plan on doing my own rendition of the Cradle. (^.^)

    Hey Greenfire32, I know you're excited about your maps, but ForgeHub has a pretty strict "no advertising" policy...if you haven't yet, feel free to make threads based on your maps, but try not to "sell" them on other people's threads! =)
