Would anyone be kind enough to explain the exact relationship between respawn points and respawn areas. If I have a neutral respawn point in a red respawn area, does it become a red only spawn point? What if I had a blue spawn point in a red respawn area? If a spawn point lies outside all the respawn areas, is it less likely that a player will respawn on the point, if at all?
Its complicated. I don't know how to explain so Ill just leave these here: Effective Spawn Placement Advanced Guide to Respawns They are halo 3 tutorials but they are still relevant for reach.
My understanding is that the respawn zones are just influencers. Anyone can spawn at any neutral respawn point, but if it's in a red zone, red people will be more likely to spawn there. A blue spawn point inside a red spawn zone will act the same as a neutral respawn point for blue people... No special influencers, but I believe only blue team will be able to use it. If the spawn point lies outside all spawn areas, then there are no extra influences either, but people will definitely still spawn there. If you want to reduce the chance of a person spawning somewhere, use anti-zones. I used a blue anti zone around the red flag and a red anti zone around the blue flag, for example.
Neutral spawn points are neutral, obviously. Anyone can spawn there. Regular respawn areas assigned to a team FORCE that team to spawn inside them. You use them to assign team spawns for flag or whatever. I think if you have a regular respawn area and it's neutral, either team can spawn in it even if it's outside of the team's assigned respawn area, but that could be wrong. Weak respawn areas only spread spawn influence (teammates, enemeies, recent deaths) within them. They don't force that team to spawn inside them though. My neutral respawn areas where I just didn't want to allow people to spawn there if there was a lot of negative influence are all weak.
