So here's my first map I've posted on FH. The concept comes from a game that my friends and I played back on Halo 2 where we would ride around on Warthogs in Coagualtion shooting brute shots at each other. It was great fun, but we couldn't really recreate it as more games came out. With Reach, however, my brother (GT: Cornwizzle) and I (GT: Basilikos) made this massive map. The whole area involves part of the Spire, part of the Island, and a long corridor of water in between the two land marks. Warthogs (Ships) are the way to go when crossing the water because without that added speed you are a sitting duck. There is a precarious path up to the ledge on the Spire with a reward for getting all the way up. On the main island there's a fairly large, but somewhat exposed Fort with two strong weapons inside. The biggest question mark for me with the map is the edges of the water. I marked the boundaries with pylons and rocks so as to show players where the floor ends, however, my brother and I though that instant death was too harsh, so I set teleporters around the water so if you go outside the boundaries, it spits you out on the other side. The current gametype supported is HS Slayer which gives every player a DMR and a Shotgun. There are no shields and relatively no recharge, but damage resistance is set to 200% so it takes 6 body shots with the DMR though a headshot is an instant kill. On the map there are: 1x Sniper Rifle 1x Sword 1x Grenade Launcher 1x Rocket Launcher 1x Sword 2x Concussion Rifle Here are some more pictures: Here's a look over a broken arch to the side of the Spire with the rock ramp. The Main Island fort overlooking the water. View from behind the fort. View from the archway in the middle towards the spire. Now, all this being said, this map can use a lot of work and any help is greatly appreciated.
Que-ed for download. Dude. That's a brilliant idea with the warthog as a boat. I'm excited to check it out. If I were you I'd make a warthog king of the hill gametype where the "pirates" have to invade the ship and steal the treasure to get points. The longer you're in the ship the more points, of course. And that teleporter thing gave me a great idea for pac-man remakes! walk off one side, and go to the other. Brilliant.
Thanks a lot, I'm working on more gametypes for it, but right now all I have is the slayer variant. I was thinking of an assault variant where the "Pirates" in the water attack the "Colonials" on land, and a mode where the "Colonials" go out into the water to capture treasure (Flags) while the "Pirates" try take their share. EDIT: Also I'm working to bring some action shots so you can see how it works in the water.
I love that idea. The pirates could come in their warthogs and bust up the party while the colonials are attempting to get their treasure. Hmm... gives me an idea for a European exploration map or something like that.
