Premise: Over a year ago, my friend (BurningThunder4) had a unique Halo 3 map idea. He built a small skybubble map entirely out of the wooden pieces. I helped revise and test the map and together we made 3 sequels. We loved these "Planks" maps and others found them quite fun as well. When Reach was around the corner we began to think of how we could continue the experience into Reach (there are no wooden pieces). Finally I had the idea to build a map entirely out of rocks and Igneous was born. Description Igneous is small, for 2-6 players. It is setup to allow several gametypes (listed above) and is great for small FFA and team games. One side of the map is flooded, and the other is built against the pillar to differentiate between the two bases. Armor abilities are all quite fun on this map, sprint and jet-pack were found to be very fun and effective. There are no grenades on the map because it plays best with only the starting grenades. Weapons: DMR x2 Needler x1 Spiker x1 Shotgun x1 Sniper Rifle x1 Gravity Hammer x1 Screenshots (skip here if you're in a hurry): Overview 1: Overview 2: Red Base 1: Blue Base 1: Blue Base 2: Hammer Walkway: Shotgun: Sniper Rifle: I will most likely release an updated version with more gametypes and minor tweaks, all feedback is greatly appreciated. Looks pretty sweet, but the limited rock supply could be a problem. The only problem I see is the inability to move without falling off. Maybe some platforms could be put underwater out of eyesight to assist with falls? And for aesthetics, the map has a theme so anyone who says it's bland... well.. it's not. It's just rocky. Like the idea, downloading now!
We really made the most out of the limited rock suppy. Most paths are quite wide (although they do look rather thin in the screenshots) falling off is hardly more of a problem than it is on maps like Pinnacle and The Cage.
Looking at this thread I was really excited to try this map out, and it was well worth the download. Though it has a relatively simple layout, it doesn't take away from game-play. But a big drawback is, only a small amount of me and my friends can try it at a time. If you could double the size with some non-rock materials for an updated version, that would be a fun map as well. I think straying away from the concept for that one update would get a lot of downloads, and it would still keep the great aesthetics this map wields perfectly. Great map
I'm glad you like the map. Burning Thunder and I have started talking about making a sequel. We could actually make it quite a bit bigger depending on the types of rocks we use, and how we space them out. I believe we could make an all-rock map suitable for up to ten players. That would rock wouldn't it? (lol bad joke)
