Okay, so I built a CTF map, added all the requisite respawn zones, with the correct tags and team designations. My problem is that once a player gets killed, he respawns outside the soft kill zone, and dies after 10 seconds. Does anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong?
Did you only use respawn zones? As I understand it, those are just respawn influencers. Try using three or four initial spawn points on each team, and then four or more regular respawn points. That should do it.
The spawns are a pain. I had no luck with the respawn points on an invasion map. I ended up placing a spawn zone with initial spawn points inside of it. Do one of these for each team (ie. blue spawn zone with 8 blue initial spawn points and red spawn zone with 8 red initial spawn points). You can then add a few other spawn zones so that the player has the option of scrolling through spawn points to select one. Also make sure that you use the game type label under advanced object options. Your respawn zone needs to have a label of either CTF_RES_ZONE or CTF_RES_ZONE_AWAY. The away label is used if you want to have a spawn point maybe halfway up the map so that when you flag is stolen you don't have to spawn all the way at your base. The labels aren't always necessary.. but they're definitely a necessity for more than one gametype being compatible. And I was wondering what those _away spawn points did. Awesome. Though you don't need so many initial spawn points if you have several respawn points. Learned that from watching Urk's map on Bungie progress.
I do have the initial spawn points down, and the away respawn zone is right on top of them. With my map I can't really have them anywhere else.
Did you place any actual respawn points? Everything else just influences the choice of respawn points.
