A relatively basic piece for my first map on Halo: Reach, but it's a good demonstration of how to do vehicle teleporters properly so that everything is properly in sync. The key is this:

The SENDER NODE will maintain your speed and direction of view, unlike Halo 3 where it was just your speed. The RECEIVER node will shoot you out in whichever direction it happens to be "pointing" even though there's no real indicator without testing. Line them up for a straight in, straight out as is done in this map.

The map itself is a basic climb and run through Forge World's excellent terrain. Head full speed off of the jumps with teleporters for best results. :)

The bungie video doesn't appear to be working and I'm not sure why... here's a direct URL.

    Bungie.net : Halo Reach : File Details

I should also mention the tedious process necessary to create a "perfect" race map. After you've placed all your objective hill point things, you need to save and end and switch to forging in Race. This will allow you to set gametype flags. You need to go to your starting points and set them all to Race_Spawn. Then you need to go to all of your objectives and set them to race_flag. If you don't want them to all be messed up, you also need to number their spawn order. The process is tedious but necessary.

Credits also go to Masta Blastr for help with some of these tricks. I totally spaced, sorry dude.

From looking at the video, it seems like you didn't put much "forging" into the map. You added a few ramps, walls, but that seems to be it. Its a good demonstration of how the vehicle tele's work. You also forgot mines, everything is not the same with out mines. Congratulations on the first Race Map post.

I feel like mines are kind of a glamor thing and interrupt the actual race... I'd maybe use them in a rally map but in terrain, why?

I guess this is just meant to serve as a demonstration in hopes that when people make maps after this they'll know the potential of various tools and how to make everything work.

I'm not a fan of sky tracks anyway, but I'll see what I can do with forge in the coming days and weeks. :)

well i do agree with you on no mines but mochasun is right, barely any forging was used and to me it looks like a bunch of randomly placed markers you drive to with the occasional jump. Another tip i would recommend is to follow one person in camera mode on the video and practice the course so all of you do not crash so much and discourage me from downloading it. It also seems like you made this out of desperation to have the first race map on forgehub. Quality and Time>Competition

I don't really care if it's the first map posted or not... my friends and I enjoy it and I learned a lot from making it. I wanted to pass on my experiences, like I said earlier. If you aren't gonna say anything nice, just don't post dude.

    Nice shot.

Anyway it would have been much better if they had kept an indicator and kept the mechanics the same has H3... sigh... the vehicle and size bit is nice but the direction problem is terrible.

Yeah, I've noticed ForgeHub doesn't like terrain tracks that much. :p
