Ive seen a forge city design floating around the B.net that looks pretty sick. It has headlong and like three other maps combined to make an epic city.
It would also be nice to see a small forge area set in orbit especially for making floating maps, ship to ship combat maps, space stations etc.
Making a map that can only support floating maps is a step back from the current forge world. We can make floating maps if we wish, but can also make use of terrain.
I'd like to see a flat cement structure, with a grid made of roads, so that some roads are perpendicular to each other. Better yet, give us roads as an object, and just give us a huge slab of concrete.
I'm not quite sure how a human or covenant city would work out as a forge world, I'm mean a city isn't really an open space so I think it would be hard to forge in or manipulate, but even so, I am intrigued at the idea of it.
I think what people want is a blank urban canvas. Then you can add road peices of various styles to make city streets, then add prefab buildings (towers, houses, apartments, you name it) to it. then you have, a city, add in little quirky things like street lights, hell garbage bags and such, and you have a realistic city. As for the snow argument, I would love to see a realm like that of Halo 3's Halo, and Avalanche a forerunner in snow, but add the filter to make the fog like blinding snow storm like you have at the begining of the map and the map gains a unique quality. Imagine fighting and driving around in a massive snow storm, enemies could be lurking anywhere in the mire. things could literally be right in front of you and you'd never know.
*Thinks about Backwash and Shudders* Please don't. OT I'd rather have a huge volcano with a bunch of rocks and things.
How about just an empty canvas? No terrain or other "hindrances" just a flat plain with which we can go nuts on. I'm thinking Far Cry 2 on Halo: Reach.
We could always build above these 'Hindrances' with those giant walls. Or we could embrace the maps geography that bungie so lovingly created for us. /troll That would be cool, but I think we'd need some different skins for the objects; and that'd be too much for a DLC.
Can you say Gmod: Flat_grass? I can't help but think about how interesting that would be. All it is is a large plain with a large concrete slab in the center. That'd be interesting in integrating urban and nature set maps.
Don't get me wrong, I'm going to enjoy the hell out of forge-world. But I'd also like an empty canvas kind of like how Sandbox was. It had geometry, but it was also primarily just a flat plain with which to go nuts on. And I'm not a troll. But thanks for your kind words anyway. (-_-)
A human city would be nice, with forge pieces such as bridges, small buildings, railings, stairs, etc. The ability to use civillian vehicles in a human city forge world would be awesome as welll. Who knows, maybe bungie will keep listening to their halo fans a little longer and put the human city idea in in future DLC!
I think a Human city would be best. A snow map or Covenant city would be fun too, though. What is important is that they make the landmass more flexible for forging, so that maps with layouts like waterworks and infinity can be remade.
