Hysteria

Welcome to Hysteria, my first map on Forge Hub. This will more likely than not be my final forge map in Halo 3 since Reach in all its greatness is slowly looming over us all.

IMPORTANT: If you downloaded the map and gametype before 9/2/10 you have to redownload it. There was an error in the map that made it impossible to complete. The links at the bottom have been changed to the new map and gametype.

Facts:
While this is obviously my own opinion, I think that this map is incredibly difficult. So difficult I decided to attach a contest to it with an awesome prize (see below).

This map uses an assault variant. To win, you have to grab the bomb and plant it. Simple enough.

This map took me several months to make. Most of this time was spent brainstorming and bug fixing (and some laziness)

All the puzzles in this map were thought up by me, and should all be original. As I have never played every puzzle map on this site, there is a high possibility I'm wrong about this. Just know that if any of the puzzle ideas have been done before then it is completely coincidental.

There are no elements in this map that I deem as cheap. This includes grabbing turrets/mongooses through walls, glitch jumping, 'wrong' teleporters that send you to explosive-filled rooms, and bouncing sniper shots off walls to hit explosives you cant even see. Puzzle maps should be about thinking, not mindless guessing and testing.

The puzzle has around seven rooms, depending on what you classify a room as.

Some people will probably look at the screenshots and notice the general lack of aesthetics compared to a lot of other forge hub maps. I am well aware of this, and it is like the only because I hit the total object limit exactly, so details for the most part could not be added. It's still hard as hell though.

By far the hardest section of the puzzle, and by far my favorite. A lot of creative thinking is involved in this section.​

Don't think the bomb spawn will be right next to the arming point. This section has to be completed with the bomb, adding a whole new dimension to the puzzles.​

Contest
The basis of the contest is incredibly simple. The first person to complete this map will win a 3 month Xbox Live Gold Subscription! Seems pretty awesome, right? Here are the rules.

1. You must write a comment to this thread, and in that comment put a link to an unedited film clip of you completing the course.

2. Obviously, first come first serve. If you weren't the first to put up the video, sorry, but hopefully you enjoyed the map anyway.

3. The map must be completed ALONE WITH NO ONE ELSE IN THE GAME. This is so they don't provide any help, and because I only have one 3 month to give out. A video with 2 people or more will not count. Sorry.

4. I'm almost positive there are no bugs in this map, but if you beat the map using some kind of glitch that allows you to skip past several sections, the vid will not count. You're welcome to give it a second try.

5. And for the not so smart people, no tampering with the gametype to try and make it easier. I will be able to tell.

Don't think that this will be an easy walk in the park to your new Xbox Live Gold Subscription©. I'm making you work for it.

CHODOMIUX: It actually wasn't intended to be gotten with the radar jammer >< I'll let that slide because it really deosn't change that much. If there is some slight difference in hopw a puzzle is completed, I will most likely still let it count. I will only not count it if you somehow skip a puzzle or section entirely through some unforseen method.

 

Well I once again feel like an idiot, the golf ball was not supposed to be shot away with any weapon through the crack. Sometimes you spend so much time trying to think about complex ways they can get past parts you overlook the simplest things >< That is a very big glitch though, so I wont count it if you beat it that way.

And not trying to make you feel bad, but I thought the custom powerup was the easiest part in the puzzle XD

 

Well I can't believe this.

I looked into the problem you were having on the puzzle, but I kept completing it easily. Then I decided to download the gametype off my fileshare to see if somehow the one on my fileshare is any different. SOMEHOW it is. Im not sure why, but the custom powerup settings in the gametype are slightly altered from the one I originally made. To be safe, I looked over the settings for the gametype and the map and reuploaded both to my fileshare.

I'm impressed

In several parts you solved the puzzles in slightly different ways than I had originally intended but thats fine. It only shows that you are very creative. In the last puzzles involving the bomb, you actually solved them in ways that made it MUCH harder for you oh well.

There is only one problem I have with the run-through. At 1 minute into the film you entered a room by going through a turret in the wall. While that was the room you were supposed to go to next, you are supposed to get there an entirely different way. For this reason, the 3 month give-away will be put on hold.

All you have to do is send me a film clip showing you get into the room without using the turret and the 3 month is yours. You dont have to go through the whole thing again.
