So I'm fixing my friends 360 for him. He's getting the "Unplayable Disc" error. I thought I could simply take out the chip from the drive, order a new drive, put the previous chip in that, and voila. But I'm not so sure anymore. After I got the chip out, I found this: Can you see that black gunk on the board? I'm wondering if that is an issue... its feels kind of like hardened syrup, can anyone identify what this crap is? I would really appreciate some help here.
Flush it. But seriously, that had to come from somewhere in the xbox (unless you have opened it up before) which means it was probably important and you're kinda screwed.
Its my friend's, so I haven't opened it before, and I know for a fact that he hasn't either. Also, it doesn't really matter now anyway, because I ended up getting the xbox to work without getting a new drive. Whatever the substance is, it isn't effecting the way the 360 is working.
Because I can tell you're totally interested in buying my xbox 360. You can't stop talking about it so I just thought I'd offer.
