    Hello fellow Forgehubbers, and welcome to my newest map, Rat Race. Yes, Rat Race, from Halo: CE. 'But wait, Trivial! You already posted a Rat Race map! This isn't new!' Well, my imaginary friend, while that may be true, this map has been greatly improved since my latest iteration. It both plays and looks much better than my first version, which was mostly unfinished. You see, the last time I tried to remake this map was before I knew how to ghost merge. And it didn't turn out well. Allow me to briefly explain why I made this map.

    Not so long ago, I was bored and looking for good remakes of maps from Halo 1 and 2. Many of the maps were fantastic, but I was missing all but one: Rat Race. I checked out the other remakes of Rat Race, but the two that I could find had some major flaws and didn't play well at all. So, I decided to Forge my own Rat Race, but the first time through kinda sucked. So I picked up a few techniques, got to forging, and finally am here to present you with the finished, polished product. I know many people who have been waiting for a good remake of this map, and they will be happy to know that someone has finally remade it. So, without further ado, I present you, Rat Race. And pictures.

    Well, that's pretty much it for this map. There are actually three variants to download. The first is classic Rat Race, with all of the original weapons, etc. The second is the same, only with effects added to make it darker. And the third is a modified version of Rat Race with different weapons to make it closer to Halo 3 style gameplay.

    Note: Although the map is breakable, it is very difficult to do so. The average player with no knowledge of advanced jumping techniques shouldn't be able to escape. If you find any "holes," please be sure to tell me.

    The tunnels may be a little bumpy, but they are supposed to be that way, and the bumipiness rarely affects gameplay, if at all. Besides, if you're walking through an excavated dirt tunnel, would you expect the walking surface to be perfectly smooth? Didn't think so. Unless you think it will affect gameplay, please refrain from commenting about the bumpiness in the tunnels. Thanks.

    I feel it's worth mentioning that, before anyone complains about the OS and shotgun being placed too close, that is the way it s in the original. Also, the powerups are both on 120s spawn time, and the shotty is on 90s. We encountered no problems with this pairing during testing. Just wanted to get that out of the way.

    I disagree with you saying the map is difficult to break.
    It is possible to break without a single grenade jump, with relative ease.
    It's even easier if you do use a grenade jump.

    Beyond how easy it was to break, it was a lot of fun to play on, although the high volume of teleporters could be cause for concern.

    Finally, a Rat Race remake that's actually good! REALLY good, in fact. I just took a look at your old Rat Race map, and this one looks like it has been hugely improved. The only thing that I'm not sure about is the arches in the fourth and fifth screenshots. To me they look like they could have been forged better. They kind of look like they're about to tip over or something lol, and the middle one looks somewhat poorly geomerged. Overall, though, I like the look of your map. It's very accurate to the original from what I remember. Let's just hope it plays well. DL'd. :)

    There are only four teleporters (two pairs), and they are really only there because they were in the original. I don't see how they could be a concern, except for maybe camping inside them or blocking them, which you can do on any map with teleporters. Next question?

    You gave rat race a new home in halo 3. Best remake by far. Almost everything I remeber from the orignal. Not much to say about this map to Rat Race fans, but this map is realy worth downloading.

    Yeah this rat race map is pretty accurate. Definitely a HUGE improvement, despite the lack of a roof ( I know I know, budget limits blah blah boo hoo) I am going to Dl and try it. This already brought back memories. Hopefully more are to come by playing this map. O and I know someone already said this but the arches are not merged. I would fix it, but then again i am not you.

    OMG i remember this map! this was my all time favorite slayer map and now you have brought it back from the grave. DLing now.

    The aesthetics are amazing. I especially like the half wall things that are on top of eachother so it looks like a big entrance thing, thats sick. Also the way you put all the tunnels and how you curved them. I like. 5/5.

    I think it would have played well, but getting out of the map was way to easy...
    And it really took away from the game....

    Id say 4/10 overall

    Did you test the map by playing some games on it, or did you just spend the game trying to break the map? Because if you just did the latter, please don't bother telling me about it, as the map is only breakable if you try.
