This thread is like the other thread, except it's purpose is to get a better idea of which people would pick between these two options. DON'T LOCK! I like the idea of the new Forge World being like Giant Snowbound. I'd like Bungie to make a huge and dynamic winter wonderland canvas with covenant building-blocks. (Perhaps even a mix of covenant and forerunner building-blocks. I love forerunner architecture). Also, the last thing I want to see is another human environment, I will puke if I see that same black-gray-white-tan-brown-vomitgreen color palette again. So my vote is both. EDIT: Woops. I tricked myself into thinking there was only one page on this thread. I agree that Covie shapes usually are rounded, but they wouldn't look stupid squared off or mostly squared off.
So a Covenant City in the arctic?Sounds cool. Also he's right, this is different from that other thread,so there is no reason to lock this.
only because the engine couldnt handle all the soft edges. a covenant map would be interesting to forge, but not to the scale of forge world. it wouldnt look covenant at all. i cant even picture a floating covie map like blackout or lockout. the covenant just doesnt build stuff like that.
The center square area would be somewhat like the square area in Snowbound's bases, or like the middle square area of Midship. Paths could be styled like Damnation. The main lift could be like Assembly. Covered pathways could be like a lot of different parts of any of those levels since they all have covered pathways. Just because Midship and Assembly are alike does not mean every covenant room in existence is round. That would be really funny if that was the case since the covenant build starships to travel the universe, but only seem to be capable of building round rooms. You're really just thinking Midship and Assembly way too much.
i dont mean rounded as in circular, im saying that covenant architecture does not have clean lines. even phased, covie objects would not look good or work well in map design when put together like puzzle pieces, it would be inefficient. what you described could work, but only with set pieces made by bungie, you couldnt take it apart and use the pieces in different ways very well. forerunner and human architecture is much more suited to forge.
If Bungie had a problem with that they could just make whatever pieces that were not working together well old Halo CE covenant style like Damnation instead of new Halo 2 and on covenant style like Midship. The two styles would work fine together, so I don't see the problem. I think they could get it to work anyway with phased physics personally, but I would actually prefer to have stuff from both art styles they have used for covenant maps. There's also tons of stuff they could pull from the campaigns as inspiration too.
