i have a few questions to ask about the forging in halo reach.

    1. can you forge on maps other than forge world?
    2. in invasion there was a shield door that you couldn't go through until a certain part of the game or you could only go in from one side. will you be able to put those down in forge?
    3. in the background of forge world there was a tower that looked a lot like the Valhalla tower from halo 3. can you forge around that?

    yes. to all three.

one-way shield doors are possible to place.
the tower is accessible, I believe.
and yes, forge world is designed for forge, but forge maps would get pretty boring if you could only forge on one map.

You can forge on other maps but they will be extrememly limited, someone compared to the difference between forging on sandbox and sandtrap, sandbox being forge world obviously

Think of it like the orginal maps to the new maps.
The originals were just not meant for forging at all..(similar to paronoia's post.)
You can still make variants of importance but the majority will land into the forge world category. (Atleast now we can fix things on maps besides forge world. before it was impossible to make anything good on the orignal.)

Yes forging on other maps is possible, but I think you will be able to edit the environment (night, day, weather, e.t.c) in forge world so why would you want to forge on other maps?

    You cannot edit the weather.
And night and day are achieved through FX filters

it would be awsome if you could make it rain or snow as you wanted though. im feeling this should be included in a map pack sometime after the game comes out.

On one of the bungie update they Mentioned on the new map zelot there would be a space bubble kind of like the sky bubble. I wonder if it would be along the outer hull of the ship or how far off the ship it would go. I'm sure that the forging on that wouldn't be that limited on that map. I don't think that the forging will be limit on most of the maps because a lot of the maps ar fairly big and the original maps that were in halo 3 that weren't good for forging were made before bungie had figured out the depth of how the community wanted to edit them. All this has been relize by bungie before reach has come out so I don't the original reach maps will be as limited as you think they would either. There is also bound to be at least 18 or 20 maps coming on the disk anyways.

Its actually on top of the ship and its a low-g box type deal.
    Yes thats really true.
But your not getting 1x1 cubes on zealot...or a rock thats probably bigger then that map.

If you dont understand my post its because i respond to your post in the order you made it.

I'm not saying you'd get rocks (they could be asteroids) I'm just say it would be cool if there was covenent themed object so you could build some kind of cool outerspace base, but I guess for now no one know how big the space building area really is. Also if you could put vehicles in it (probaly not) the only one that would seem to work would be the banshee, the falcon propellers wouldn't work in an enviroment with no atmospere.

I also think that in some kind map pack they should add another forge world with a different enviroment besides grassy, rocky terrain (ex: forzen tundra or a tropical area) or possibly a world with multiple enviroments or climate zones to go into during one game.

If you're talking about top-mid, you are sadly mistaken. The outer side of Zealot is the same width of the space under it, which is about the width of midship.

I'm glad thats cleared up, but do you think that bungie will release a map pack with a new "forge world like" maps because that would be really cool. I'm mean after forge world they can't really release a new space solely for forge space thats smaller than forge world it's kind of like foundry and then the later release of sandbox which has three separate spaces each much large than foundry itself.

Also does anyone know if the custom content limit is great than 100 because after awhile that gets really anoyying in halo 3

I first want to say, in case someone doesn't know, that if you want to make an invasion gametype, you can't do it on Forge World. You have to forge it on Boneyard or Spire or any other invasion-specialized map.

Bungie is usually really good at adapting to what the community does. I'm sure they have no idea what we want next, but they'll probably observe what we do, look at the problems that arise from that, and release a map that caters to those problems.

The custom content limit is no longer 100 to all, but 1,000 of each, (so if we're dealing with map variants, gametype variants, screenshots, films, and firefight variants, my guess is 5,000 total.)

If you're not kidding, that is insane! 5000!! holly crap! Well if this is bungies last game in the halo series :( then I'm sure those thousand each could get filled (Eventually). Also, if you could have that much custum content that would be horrible to sift though to find what you want. It's still very exciting!

Yeah me and another member were discussing if they had an organization system or "foldering" where you can put things into folders for easy access

Oh yeah, I hadn't thought of that. That would be extremely useful (I'm imagining myself having to sift through 500 listings under "Forge World" to find the map that I can't recall the name of).

I thought I heard Chad or Brian on the comic con Q&A explain it that way, 1,000 of each type, but the only citation I could find was this. (scroll down to the bottom)
