Just wondering. I'm planning on going to Prague with some friends in like August for a few days, so any recommendations or advice would be much appreciated. Initially we were going to stay in a hostel, but having looked at the quality of some of the apartments, i think we'll be going for something like that. We'll be likely seeing most of the sights that are within walking distance, touring lots of bars, smoking some of the local product and then hitting one or two clubs.

If anyones been and has some recommendations, advice or simple tips, it would be much appreciated. I'v read that it's a bit of a tourist trap and people are going to look to con you (taxi's, hotels, dealers), so i feel like getting a heads up might save me a few. Danka.

Yeah I went in the summer of 2008 when me and my mates turned 18, we stayed at a hostel called The Czech Inn which I highly recommend. It was a decent location, right next to the tram line which is regular and takes about 15 mins to get into the town centre. The facilities are great and its very cheap for what you get, it was voted best hostel in the world couple of years ago.

I dunno what you want to do in the day and night but considering I went with a group of guys we spent most of the day drinking the best beer I've ever had, the most common lager is pilsner urquell which you just have to try. Also went to the cathedral and castle which is very impressive and did the usual tourist things in the city centre.

We went to a great nightclub Karlovy Lazne, spent like 3 nights there and just in other bars other nights.

If you want any more advice or w/e, let me know.

I'm going to Prague in August. True story. I don't have any insight to share just yet, someone else is planning the trip. But when that person fills me on the details, we can compare notes I suppose.

Haha ye Vinny that's the first price i looked at after accomodation.

Predicide were looking to go probably 3rd week of August, so i'll give you a shout if and when we get a date to see if you'll be there. Also i'll give you any info i find when things are more concrete. I already made contact with the people on that apartment website and they are more than hospitable for a group of 18 year old boys, so that's certainly a good thing.

Yup Vinny I totally forgot about that site, thanks for reminding me about it. Will make use of.

The latest I've heard is we'll be there the first week. I think the plan is hostels. I'll know more next week.

I'm at the Mosaic House right now. It's a bit more upscale than what I was expecting but we're splitting a room 3 ways so it's not too bad per person. Basically so far... don't take taxis, the subway is boss here. Take bus 119 from the airport all the way to the station called Dejvicka to the subway to go anywhere. You can get a 3 day ticket for all busses subways and trams in the city, quite cheap. Beer's cheap too. I'm leaving for Budapest in the morning but have fun if you're still coming.
