since nobody seemed to notice this post:

a skybox, or spacebox as was said since its in space, is just the scenery outside the map. what he was talking about in the update has nothing to do with forge, purely the aesthetics of the map.

I'm pretty sure there's already a thread oin this. Its call Low G on Zealot. ALso were not sure how big it is. Would be awesome though if it was big.

The thread your talking about is kinda unrelated, apart from it being about Zealot. This thread's about what was said in the Bungie Weekly update which to me sounds like they are suggesting there is quite a lot you can do in Forge on this map using the 'space' area around the ship. Could make for some pretty awesome invasion/assault maps imo, which I was hoping for as I already had an idea for invasion on Zealot.

There are already several Videos about this. The Low G part is really interesting but we have to see what objects we can use on the maps.

Okay, notice how he crossed out "skybox" and replaced it with "spacebox"? Yeah, skybox is a term for the "sky image surrounding the map, and since in space there isn't a sky, he aptly corrected himself saying spacebox, even though technically it is still considered a skybox.

This is for the discussion of spacebox, comis is right when he says this does not belong in the log G thread because that was specifically about the small area on the map. Now the area is much larger, I thought I would post about it and get some discussion going about it.

@Wood wonk, I can see what you mean, but it can work both ways dude. CALM THE **** DOWN

Well I doubt to many people will be building in only the space area since we can change gravity with custom game options the only benefit is the transition between normal and low gravity.

But I can't wait to see what people come up with. I have no ideas for it at the moment to busy thinking about Forgeworld :p

first of all dont tell me to calm down brah, i had to bold my statement because nobody seemed to notice it. second, it cant work both ways, a skybox has one definition, its just the animation of the space around the playing area, or the sky in particular. i think you are confusing the term skybox with the "sky bubble" of sandbox.

They first reffered to the sky bubble as the sky box. So yes it can work both ways. I know it is unlikely now looking at the picture underneath. But it is a possibility.

BTW, putting things in bright bold red wont make people read it.

i dont recall them ever referring to it as the sky box. but even if they did, im 100% sure thats not what he was referring to in the update. however, you could just make your own sky bubble with the grids that are available as objects in forge, at least on forgeworld anyway. i dont see any reason for them not to put it on other maps though.

really? makes me read it. stop signs, man.

Stop signs have white text ¬.¬

Also yes, it's always possible. If they don't do it on that map, what is stopping them adding it in DLC? All they need to do is apply an effect. I bet they could even add placeable gravity, with the new placeable playable areas, what is stopping them?

    OH NO HE DIDNT!!!!

lol. but the context makes it pretty obvious that they are referring to scenery. however, noone said there wasnt space under the ship :D they probably put forging space out there somewhere. and a griffball court in space with spaceship type aesthetics would be amazing. with like glass windows and low G and stuff. especially because the low G would effect the bomb too.

haha i was so tempted to say that, but i controlled myself :p.

But on topic, the quote says 'the final frontier never looked so spectacular.'
My limited halo knowledge tells that the final frontier is a spaceship (correct me if I'm wrong). Is he not therefore claiming that he's seen someone make that ship in forge? Meaning there most be quite a lot of space to forge in? Then again, he may be just talking about how there is a final frontier in the background of the map.. could still swing either way in my opinion.. like micheal jackson. But I don't recall seeing any big spaceships in the background of Zealot and I have seen this outside space from multiple angles.

i think by the final frontier, he was just referring to space in general. So I assume he was talking about the backround, or the playable space in space on zealot.

so the final frontier's not a spaceship then? :surprise: it still could swing either way, like madonna.

I still hope we can forge in the area around the ship.. it will be vital for my invasion idea. We could make some epic custom space battles on this map.

    It made me read it.

    Just sayin'.

But yes, the skybox isn't just the image of the sky because they talked about how high the skybox is in forgeworld.

If a skybox is high then they're implying that the space below it is large. The term skybox has NOTHING to do forge.

    Did you not read?

Bungie used to refer to the sky bubble as the skybox.

Skybox (video games) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Click it. You need to.

EDIT: It could be possible that there is in fact an area for forge, but the quote you derived this from is not talking about that. Your assumption may be right, but the way you interpreted that quote is completely wrong.
