Well, I have heard a lot of discussion on this topic already so I'm going to ask you what you think of Forge World. This is a argument going on with a bunch of people I know: Some people say that forging takes skill and ideas. Skill is not offered in Forge World, all you need is ideas and badda bing badda boom, your map is done. In Halo 3 forge you need skill to make a good map;a map which is smooth, even, planned, neat, sketchy. Does anybody have an argument on this? What about just your opinion on it? In my opinion, I think that Forge World is a great idea Bungie came up with to let people make maps without spending days on a map. It won't take as long to create a map. Yet I also don't like the idea in a way. What is your opinion????
Dose not take skill? If anything it takes forgers to the next level of skill. I don't see a point in this thread.
I for one like it. I won't have 10 people ***** about a map having one bad peice of merging... and the other half that it felt incomplete. Also this has been discussed yes. There are all ready threads like this. Search first.
I second this. Sure many more players will end up making nice smooth maps, but we will learn to make the maps look remarkable in a different way from now.
What do you mean "Forge World", You can do all that stuff in other maps also. It would take alot more skill to forge a good map around a default map, and still make it work. Also people will still find ways to make un-imaginable maps that no one else can make... somehow.
I slightly agree that the ease of forging a map will change things a lot, and a map that was impressive(forging difficultly wise) in Halo 3, will be nothing in Reach. On the contrary, think about all those awesome map ideas that were discarded because it was too difficult or took to long to make in Halo 3. I think well see some great maps, but a lot more of them. If that's good or bad, I guess we'll find out.
I 3rd this. A skillful forger is not based on whether he/she can master the pain in the ass tricks in Halo 3's forge. A skillful forger will plan their maps and spend time making sure that it works and plays good. Surely we will see more people being able to make maps that look good, but will they play good, that is going to be the big question. I'm sure that most of great forgers in Halo 3, will be able to take things to the next level in Forge 2.0, and their maps will definately stand out from the others. Plus Bungie just wanted to make forging easier for us, and they have done a great job at it.
With the introduction of the new Forge, It has become easier to build structures for a map. However, the hardest part is still making the map play good without any major problems.
Moderators (I'm looking at you BT and Yoyo), lock this thread and save a million goats from being eaten by trolls. No, really. This is the type of thread that should be made on Bungie.net, and that should stay on Bungie.net. Forge World is whatever you take it as. Based entirely off of facts, Forge World is good because it is 6 or more maps rolled into one. But some can argue that it is bad entirely based off of their opinions. By the way, the title of your thread is completely wrong. You've typed "Forge World: Good or Bad???" and then in the thread you talk specificaly about Forge 2.0. Let's get this straight... Forge World is a map. Forge 2.0 is the newest version of Halo 3's forge packed into Halo: Reach. Get it? Forge World, map. Forge 2.0, newer version of forge. Inb4lock.
This will make forge more competitive. I can finally make maps and keep my ideas streaming. Not only that, maps will be judged based on gameplay and unique aesthetics, rather than merging and ghost merged aesthetics. <I might not download this, you didn't merge everything> will be replaced with <Looks great, I like how you kept the map flowing by adding a hole from top mid to bottom mid.> Or <I have yet to see someone use a light in such a creative way.> or < I stopped playing, just to look at the environment that you created outside the kill zone. A city? Genius.> Forging competition will be a lot more competitive. Don't forget alot less spam posts on maps in Forge Hubs!
heaven forbid people actually have to play a map now to see if its any good or not and not judge it by its looks. Forging, in any capacity, never took skill. It just took patience and time. Map designing, however, has and always will take skill. That is no different in Reach and Forge 2.0. I'm going to lock this thread now, because there's really no argument against my above statement, and this thread can only go downhill from here. Sorry, sir.
