.....it was really OP and broke Halo 3 for me. All heavy maps were basically ruined by it and it could knock over a MONGOOSE. It was an easy kill in SWAT for everyone and ruined that playlist for me due to the three bullet spray. I am not saying I was bad at it, I got an Overkill with it against a Highest skill 46 guy with a Rocket and 3 guys with ARs. I am just sick of people complaining that it's gone because they cannot use any other gun. I think the DMR is a great addition which requires more skill and patience. Due to the abolition of the BR, there is no longer an all purpose weapon capable of getting ridiculous kills. RIP BR, and good riddance. Thoughts?
Well, it's mostly MLG guys that complain, because the BR is their staple. I guess people are just sick of change. And since the BR is so powerful, like most power weapons, people love it, and get mad if it gets cut. Kind of like how most people would be mad if the Rocket Lawnchair (see what I did there?) got cut.
The truth is, it's a status orienting argument. The people who are complaining about the Battle Rifle getting cut (generally) are the people who care about what other people think. Using the Battle Rifle well is indicative of skill, so by complaining about it being cut, they throw themselves towards the in crowd of "cool-MLG-pros". There's also the people who know that learning a whole new weapon with its own behaviours might mean they won't be as great at Reach as they were Halo 3, so they ***** and of course, nothing happens. On the flip side, people who welcome the DMR either appreciate a new weapon with more than one facet of skill to master, OR they haven't really considered the changes, but want to seem "progressive".
im in no way an mlg pro, but i was good with the br. i welcome change solely because i trust bungie to make a good balanced game. good analysis btww
Another BR thread :l But I think its because the BR was over powered and been able to out BR someone is a Skill and people trained that 1 Skill to be able to out BR people and since that was the most powerful common weapon in halo 3 you could become the best in halo 3 with that skill then in Reach they remove that 1 skill and add variation and a bunch of skills they can't handle the fact that the one skill they where good at is gone. Lucky for me I was never the best at using a BR and I used a lot of different skills so Reach is good for people like me who didn't just use the BR to there advantage.
I don't know what you're smoking. lol. I hate the BR and love the DMR, but still BR rest in peace you will be missed.
I loved the BR. But love the DMR even more! Graphically, it's better, it's more consistant and takes the same ammount of time to kill someone as if they had a BR. Therefore, I salute this beast.
Well its a new change thathas been in evry other halo game prior to REach. So it will take a little to get used too. Thats why people like me dont likeit as much.
Yes, another BR Thread lol. Man I wish I was more like you because I rely too much on the BR. My sniper just isn't what it used to be . But that doesn't mean I"m going to miss it that much. It should be no problem switching to the BMR. I mean, do people still miss the H1 pistol? Exactly.
There was no BR in Halo 1.. Yes actually, I do. The problem with your comparison though is nothing ever replaced the pistol, unless you count the BR, or the scope-less pistol as a replacement, which I don't. Of course, it's coming back in Reach, so I won't be missing it any more. The DMR however IS a direct replacement for the BR. At the range it is intended for, it is just as effective as the BR, if not more effective. The whole idea of how Halo's weapon sandbox works is that you are constantly switching weapons and using different combinations to best prepare yourself for the situation you are most likely to find yourself in. The BR however was an all round pwnage machine though. In the right hands it could just about beat any other weapon in any other situation, unless you take it the extremes. This defeats the object of switching up weapons on a regular basis. And because people have become used to it, they can't use other weapons as well as they can use the BR, therefore other parts of their game are missing, and they will not do as well. That's why people miss it.
You got me stumped man. I didn't miss it a bit in the beta, I don't think I will in reach. The DMR is 10 times the weapon of that other gun I don't care to name
You can't abolish a physical object, only thoughts and mannerisms. and I never really liked the Br that much. I much prefere my melees(?).
Actually, I saw in a video somewhere after the Beta they will make the DMR's bloom (loss of accuracy after shot) less and extend the mag to 15... they serve the same purpose, Halo 2 was originally supposed to have a single-shot BR but it got replaced. I welcome it, but I still love the BR in H3.
