Okay, I haven't been coming to forgehub as frequently as I usually do. I have been venturing across multiple forums. Every forum I visited has a G&A forum. So naturally I would go in and take a look.
I noticed something very quickly, it seems(mainly in gaming forums) that each forum not only has individual users with their own styles, but all the styles are mainly similar to the other members of the site. The CnC of the members leads all artists to change their style to a certain way.

For example: Forgehub's style, we here use c4d's and photoshop like(in my opinion) how it's supposed to be. We make sleek sigs that look good, the focus is good, lighting is good, etc... Hell, there actually is something to focus on! Our images look nice, the text is nice. You get my point.

HOWEVER, I have been on TheTechgame a lot, and they have a totally different style. They usually have clunky text(with a 5px stroke, yuck), bad colors, horrible lighting, horrible focal points, etc... In the end, the images look interesting to the untrained eye, but I can see all the flaws. Now, it's not just a few here and there. The majority of their sigs look eerily similar, very flashy and colorful with no flow.

So indeed I think it is possible that by visiting the G&A section of one forum over many can actually influence you to believe your style is "omfg ttly ub3r", when really that's just the standard that the people of that forum have developed over time. Just interesting food for though..

Well, the GnA has always been a big part of the forum, and each 'generation' on Forgehub has had it's big players in the GnA, Iceickle, Myself, Lock, Dizfunky, Fragman, RST, Kidbomber, HRMx, Juggernaut, Piggles, BWC, the list goes on. Each user has contributed to part of the GnA, and until recently, it's been a powerhouse in the non halo sections of the forum. And we hope with Reach come out, the next few generations can only make it better. We hope that we can present those new generations with the style and way of graphixing that we've made for ourselves in this warm and cuddly niche.

And on a side note, there should be some new developments comming soon. MUAHAHHAHA

I've visited a lot of forums and definitely know what you're talking about. It's usually the big guys that influence the other people on what exactly is cool to do. On one forum, grunge and abstract stuff was great; on another, c4ds was where it was at.

I've noticed, though, on the few graphics forums I've been on, that with a lot of people, the styles actually usually vary and can sometimes be unique. I don't think I've been here long enough to notice a definite trend.

Some of you do know what you're doing, though for now, I'm seeing, like you said, a lot of c4ds. Which is nice, but I've yet to see anything straying much farther.

Something i've notived about everything everywhere. Think about it; music that the chinese like might not neccesarily be the same as the music that Europeans like, same with food and art and pretty much everything. The internet is in no way different than reality, and such subcultures will always develope regardless of the social structure.

There a difference between a gaming site/non GFX site and real all around GFX sites. Its abit obvious that on sites that dont have gfx as a main point, will have going for a more universal idea, being its likely few people actually do gfx and so they rely on the cnc of the site only. My example would be on a dance site, which has maybe one or two real good artists, and so everyone goes for there cnc, which is constant to there opinions.

On all around gfx sites, you have most to all people artist, along with there own style persay. Which means more variety.

It reminds me of gna which makes me sick. GnA is terrible. CnC is never given properly, and everyone has **** taste.
Which is why i lurk there until something good appears. So if i comment on it, then it is a good piece.

Tis true to a certain extent. This isn't a GNA community though. Its just a sub forum for the people who are into it.

Cnc is usually based upon opinion though, and technically everyone in the graphics forum are novices.

I'm not sure if this is what's going on, but this might be true if this forum is the only thing most people have had in their experiences making sigs.

I just give my opinion on what I would do, not necessarily what you should be doing. I try not to look like a jackass who thinks he's the best, just someone who could hopefully help in some way or another.

This is def not the only forum for me making sigs. Once you get to a certain point in skills I would recommend joining a gfx site.

Yeah, definitely. For me personally, though, I never join the really big communities, or at least never post in them very often. I usually just tend to be an observer.

It's probably hurt me more than I'm thinking it has, but I was just always more attracted to becoming a member of a lot of smaller groups rather than a few big ones.

Its all about getting better though. Not sitting in a community where people constantly say great job..

That's probably why I almost never post, either... I'm more about actually reading and learning new things than wanting to sub-consciously boost my self esteem when, even if i do get a high-five or two, I still have a hell of a lot to learn.

Edit: Or... Post my stuff, I mean.
