Hey guys - this is the new map I've been working on the last few days. It is just now finished (version 1.0 at least) and I'd like to hear your thoughts. You can download it here: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=16287346 Wirerollers Inc. is configured for all gametypes but isn't a huge map, so 8 or less players is preferable; ideally I would think it would make a great 3 on 3 map. It should play especially well for slayer and asymmetrical or neutral objective games. There are two bases, naturally, connected by one huge ramp and a twisting lower level tunnel (with several points of access and a couple good weapons in it). The central ramp is fraught with danger, but is definitely the shortest distance between the two bases, and also offers the two biggest power weapons available - a sniper and a rocket launcher. Note: depending on your tolerance or enjoyment of the spools, you may wish to tweak the runtime min and spawn times. This version has 3 spools respawning at ten seconds, and a 4th respawning at 20 seconds, with the runtime min set to 2. In my saved map I have since set the 4th spool to respawn at 10 seconds as well, and increased the runtime min to 3 - resulting in just a few more spools coming down each minute. They are still not frequent however, and should be fairly easy to avoid. Screenshots: Note: this post was edited to link to the newest released version of the map.
Re: Wirerollers Inc.: Where all our employees end up on disability! Looks like a nice map, although its a bit overdone... You might have one that stands out though, and I love the idea of using the window panels as platforms for the weapons.
Re: Wirerollers Inc.: Where all our employees end up on disability! I shall queue dis -blam!-. I need a good map for a small amount of people and this looks like it. EDIT: No swearing, we've got young'uns on this board. -Lance
Re: Wirerollers Inc.: Where all our employees end up on disability! Forgot to mention - this started out as an attempt to do an homage to Longest/Elongation. The basic premise was to take those maps and turn them on an angle so that there was a vertical element to it; then replace the moving crates with rolling wire spools. I found as I went along that adding the angle to the whole map made it very hard to put things where I wanted them and still have them connect properly (plus budget quickly got in the way), so the bases ended up positioned differently from each other, and the connecting tunnel isn't as accessible as the upstairs part of Elongation. Eventually though, I felt like it pushed me to make something more original and not as familiar as what I had planned at first.
Re: Wirerollers Inc.: Where all our employees end up on disability! Definitely overdone, looks like a combo between Rusty Eagles map and Donkey Kong, but I do like the motto
Re: Wirerollers Inc.: Where all our employees end up on disability! Looks pretty cool, and I need a map for a small amount of players. I'll let you know what I think of it after I play with a few people. Do you think you could host a party or something?
Re: Wirerollers Inc.: Where all our employees end up on disability! I might be able to a little later on - in an hour or two possibly.
Re: Wirerollers Inc.: Where all our employees end up on disability! Cool, My GT is XLpun15h3rLX, Its in the FH Community tag
Re: Wirerollers Inc.: Where all our employees end up on disability! Hey sorry man, I never made it online & with it getting close to evening I'm going to be out for the rest of the night. I hope you get a chance to try it out anyway. I'll be playtesting it thoroughly in my LAN game Wed. night. One game I am hoping will work well on this is neutral flag. I put the flag in such a place that the defensive team can get it almost effortlessly, but then should have a hell of a time getting it back to their base. It's a really unusual way to play off the map design. For neutral bomb I was more conservative and just put it in the middle of the connecting tunnel - I'll be interested to see which one works better.
Re: Wirerollers Inc.: Where all our employees end up on disability! Apologies for the bump - I just wanted to mention that a new version of this map has been uploaded with one major geometry change and numerous small tweaks. If you downloaded it before, please try this version - it's an improvement. The link has been edited in the first post. Thanks!
