Well, hello there! My C-21 Dragon is finished, more details on that later. Anyway, I've been working on this Infection map in relative secret. Remember those "Darkness Fall" maps? Whre you drive around in the dark, keeping away from zombies? Well, this map is a tweaked version of this, with adjustments made to the gametype to make it fair for the zombies, and a map that only has aesthetic geomerging and interlocking. Backstory below. Backstory So basically, this map used to be a warzone. UNSC versus a small pocket of insurrectionists, fighting in a small desert town. After the UNSC began winning, the rebels panicked, and dropped a low-yield nuke directly on the town. The sand kicked up, burying the surrounding town. The crater exposed an ancient relic below the town's centre. Then it got dark. The surviving forces of UNSC managed to survive the nuke by holding out in a lead-linded building. The builing was mostly obliterated, but the forces survived, so did their weapons and vehicles. However, the radiation, plus the power of the relic, transformed the town's former residents into zombies... ... ... ... Drive to survive! Gametype Zombies and Alpha Zombies are identical, except Alpha Zombie have a Gravity Hammer, and are zombie-colored. Normal zombies have Energy Swords. All zombies can run super fast and jump super high. They have 50% damage resistance, but fast-recharging energy shields. They also have an expanded motion senseor, to 150 meters. Humans are normal humans, but start with an Assault Rifle, a Magnum, and infinite ammo. Vehicles are indestructible, no powerups of any kind are on the map. Map I wanted to give everyone lots of variety. Every UNSC weapon is available somewhere on the map, Mongooses, Warthogs, Gauss Hogs, and an armored artillery unit (Wraith) are available. A Trip Mine, Bubble Shield, Firebomb Grenade, and several Fragmentation Grenades are also available. 9 structures are featured on the map, all have disadvantages at defense, to discourage camping, and encourage driving. The primary structures are marked by blue lights, zombie structures are marked with red lights. Some are completely dark. The structures are: Human Spawn, Zombie Spawn, Ribcage, Rock Garden, Shacks, Bunker, Base, Pipeline, and Relic. After 10 seconds of light, the map goes dark. This is so you can quickly orient yourself. The zombies have a chance at early infections, as there's a teleporter at their spawn that takes them to the ribcage, right next to the human spawn. So watch out, the zombies get there quicker than you think. During early playtests, we had lots of fun, but I'm sure you're sick of hearing me talk. On to the pics! Left half of map. Most of you know that my remake of the RDA C-21 Dragon gunship from Avatar is done, and that it releases August 10. However, since I finished early, it will be released sooner. Prehaps even tomorrow or the day after! So keep an eye out. Bye!
When I first heard "Based off 'Darkness Falls'", I made this face: : ) When you said this "Darkness Falls" map was supposedly one of those "Vehicles in the Dunes" maps, I changed my face to this: : ( ... First things first, Humans spawn with weapons out the wahoo. Several Assault Rifles/Smg's, At least four Shotguns, and a Sniper Rifle are all at their starting area. If you truly don't understand the repurcussions of giving them all this weaponry at their spawn, then you probably have never tested this map. Also, the Zombie spawn appears incredibly campable. One Warthog full of armed Humans is all it takes to begin an effective spawn-camp. Keep this in mind, and possibly rework the Zombie spawn so that it's in the air, at an uncampable location. The only definitive compliment I can give yyour map is that the structures in it are amazing, breathtaking, and loads of other big words. Seriously, these structures are what seperates this from a reguler "Drive stuff in the dunes" map. Also, they play great in addition to looking awesome. Cheers, HarisSales. ( P.S. It would help to put only a few Power weapons at the Human spawn, and have resuplies throughout the map. Give Humans limited ammo, and they'll be forced to travel the map in order to find ammunnition. )
To post above: I did test it, and it's supposed to play the largest parties, so everyone gets at least one weapon. It played very well. And I neglected to mention, that zombie spawn is only their starting point, nothing more. They can spawn there, but they can also respawn in the ribcage, out in the desert, and at the centre of the relic. And to prove my point, they still pick up ammo, even though their ammo is infinite. If you go near those three Assault Rifles, they automatically get picked up by you. Since the Shotguns are side by side, you pick up one, you make one disappear. Which means that there's only two Shotguns. The other weapons don't do much, as the zombie is fast. Zombies can easily outrun rockets and dodge lasers, snipers, and grenades, and since the zombies have shields, they're difficult to kill.
you know when i saw Memorial Basin, i was expecting a Halo Wars remake.. But to say the least you did a good job with the structures, my suggestion is making zombies and humans 50/50 to balance out the rediculous amount of defender weapons. or maybe a v2 scattering power weapons thoughout the map. Also the center of the map is rather emtpy, i understand a nuke went off, but maybe some rubble for the infected?
